Beam Design NSCP 2015

This document summarizes the design of a shear wall for Kasara Tower 6. It provides the load combinations and member properties used for design. It checks whether boundary elements are required and determines the minimum longitudinal and transverse reinforcements. It finds that boundary elements and shear reinforcements are required based on the calculated demands and capacities. The minimum shear reinforcement is 1,250 mm2 per meter length of wall.

PROJECT: KASARA TOWER 6

Wall ID #: SW-3A
UBC-97 Load Combination
DESIGN OF SHEARWALL

Service Loads:
Pdl = 24521 KN Ve = 4985 KN
Pll = 4833 KN Me = 56894 KN-m
Pel = 13839.6 KN
Member Properties
Lw = 8.00 m tw = 0.50 m
Hw = 3.00 m centc = - m

Material Properties
fc = 55.16 MPa db = 32 mm
fy = 413.79 MPa ds = 16 mm
fys = 413.79 MPa

W = ( 1.2 Pdl + 1.0 Pll ) Pu = 1.4 Pdl + 1.7 Pll

Ha = 1.1Me d = Lw - 2 * centc - lbm

1. Check whether boudary elements are required

Cv = P / 2 + Ha / d Iw = tw * ( lw³ /12 )
Tv = P / 2 - Ha / d Ag = Lw * tw

fc = Pu / Ag + Ha * 0.50 * lw / Iw fc * 0.001= 25.52 MPa

fc all = 0.20 * fc fc all = 11.032 MPa

fc * 0.2 > fc all  boundary members are required

2. Determine minimum longitudinal and tranverse reinforcements

Vu = 1.1 * Ve Acv = Lw * tw
Vua = 0.85 * Acv * fc / 6 * 1000

Vu = 5483.28 KN Vua = 4208.62 KN

Vu > Vua  shear reinforcements are required

min = 0.0025 smax = 500 mm ACI A 5.2.1

Asvmin = 0.0025 * tw * 1000²
Asvmin = 1,250.00 mm² per meter length of wall
