Hands-On Exercise:
Frequency (81, 81R) Settings and Testing
Step 4. Save and then send the settings to the relay by clicking File > Send.
Step 2. Use the human-machine interface (HMI) window to clear the SER report. The SER
will be used to verify the accuracy of the 81D1TD delay setting.
Step 2. Run the following two tests (on the Student CD in your course manual):
a. SEL-AMS 81 ROC No_op test is a single-state test. The frequency is ramped
from 60 Hz to 56 Hz over a six-second interval. Since this is a 1 Hz/second
rate-of-frequency change, the relay should not operate.
b. SEL-AMS 81 ROC Op test is a two-state test. State 1 applies 60 Hz for 6
seconds. State 2 ramps frequency from 60 Hz to 42 Hz over a six-second
interval. Since this is a 3 Hz/second rate of frequency change, the relay should
operate.
