NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF DESIGN (NID)


1.0 A BRIEF OF THE PROPOSED TOPIC:

The National Institute of Design (NID) is internationally acclaimed as one of the foremost multi-
disciplinary institutions in the field of design education and research. The institute functions as an
autonomous body under the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of
Commerce and Industry, government of India. NID is recognised by the Department of Scientific and
Industrial Research under Ministry of Science and Technology, government of India, as a scientific and
industrial design research organization.

Aim of the Topic:


To explore the student’s creativity.
Open and free learning environment.
To make it an enjoyable space.
To make it more interactive
Understanding an area of specialisation by having common classrooms for the initial years.
Making an Urban Environment within the campus.

This thesis aims in understanding and developing our resources fully and needs of design institute in our
country and to incorporate the various methods of learning in an environment and to give an urban
environment approach within the campus.

2.0 DESCRIPTION ABOUT THE TOPIC:

The project is a live proposal .To propose a National institute of design at Kurukshetra, Haryana, by the
department of Industrial Policy and Promotions (DIPP).
