National Institute of Design (Nid) : Topic 2015-16
The National Institute of Design (NID) is internationally acclaimed as one of the foremost multi-
disciplinary institutions in the field of design education and research. The institute functions as an
autonomous body under the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of
Commerce and Industry, government of India. NID is recognised by the Department of Scientific and
Industrial Research under Ministry of Science and Technology, government of India, as a scientific and
industrial design research organization.
This thesis aims in understanding and developing our resources fully and needs of design institute in our
country and to incorporate the various methods of learning in an environment and to give an urban
environment approach within the campus.
The project is a live proposal .To propose a National institute of design at Kurukshetra, Haryana, by the
department of Industrial Policy and Promotions (DIPP).

Student’s Activity Center: Facilities for the following games are available: Table Tennis, Chess,
Snooker, Squash Court and Carom, Swimming pool, Gymnasium. In addition to this, a large auditorium
for various activities.
Education with a student capacity of approx. 500 in undergraduate and postgraduate levels of
four years and two and a half years duration respectively under faculties in various design
domains.
