A Quick Guide For Moving IO PDF

The document provides steps for changing an input/output (IO) point on a K-Chief 700/AIM2000 system, including logging in, selecting the PS configuration, disconnecting the original IO point, configuring and connecting a new spare IO point with the same signal type and settings, and storing the new configuration. An overview of the IO terminal block is also provided. The process must be followed carefully to replace an IO point while maintaining configuration details like tag, terminal, and signal conditioning settings on the new point.

Changing IO – K-Chief 700/AIM2000

The following document will take you through the process of changing IO. Signal
types that can be connected will depend on type of RIO. An overview of the IO
Terminal Block is given at the end of this document.

9 Log in as Chief (or similar).

9 Select PS Configuration under System

9 For a redundant PS it is necessary to “Set

Configuration Mode for Redundancy Group 1 ”
in PS Operation.
9 Make sure that you have a spare IO Point
available (Spare IO Point has to be on the same
PS).
9 Take a note of all IO Point details (i.e. print it
out). It is critical to remember Tag and
Terminal.
9 Disconnect the original IO Point by clicking in
the Connection column, and click disconnect in
the dialog box that appears.

9 The new IO Point has to be configured to the

same signal type as the original, click the arrow
to the left of the new IO Point and select correct
loop typical.

9 Connect the new IO Point to the correct Tag and

Terminal by clicking the Connections column.
Type tag name and press enter, select terminal
from the list that appears, and press connect.

Configuration Mode for Redundancy Group will degrade RCU B; the system will assume that RCU A and RCU B are
different due to configuration changes. The mode can be cleared by a PS backup of RCU A. RCU B then has to be
restarted in order to download new configuration files.

9 IO Point Parameters have to be set according to
the settings of the old IO Point, make changes in
the lower left corner.
9 Signal Conditioning set correct signal
conditioning on the new IO Point. Left click in
the column Eng. value and select Signal
Conditioning from the right click menu.

9 The information in the IO Tag column has to be

cut and pasted from the old IO Point to the new.
Add a new comment in the IO Tag column of
the old IO Point (e.g. broken).

9 You can now connect the field wires to the new

IO Point (Check correct Loop Typical)..
9 Store PS Configuration (PS Backup).
9 Reset RCU B if your changes were done on a
redundant PS.
