A. Course Description This course is designed to develop knowledge and capacities of students with Algebraic expressions and equations; solution sets of
algebraic equations in one variable: linear, quadratic, polynomial of degree n, fractional, radical equations, quadratic in form, exponential
and logarithmic equations; decomposition of fractions into partial fractions; solution sets of systems of linear equations involving up to
three variables.
B. Course Objectives The syllabus is designed to equip students to:
Knowledge/ Skills Define the different algebraic terms
Operate and simplify algebraic expressions;
Determine the solution sets of all types of algebraic equations, exponential and logarithmic equations; and inequalities;
Use the manipulative and analytical skills acquired in Objectives 1 to 2 to solve word problems;
Identify the domain and range of a given relation/function
Perform operations and procedures on polynomials, rational expressions, and numbers (real and complex)
Perform factorial notations and the binomial expansion.

Uniform and Decorum. Students uniform consists of a white chef’s jacket, a clean white apron must be worn and white t-shirt
underneath the chef’s jacket with two (2) pieces hand towels. Black acceptable shoes either high or with low heels.
Hygiene. Students’ hair must be neat, trimmed and clean. Male students are required to shave mustaches, beards and sideburns.
Personal hygiene must be maintained, including but not limited to daily bathing, clean hands and fingernails. Acceptable jewelries
includes watch and wedding ring.
Academic Dishonesty. All forms of dishonesty, cheating, plagiarizing, or other academic misconduct are prohibited.
Disability Accommodation. Persons with physical/ learning disabilities are requested to see the Professor within the first two weeks of
the semester. A doable strategy is designed by both the Professor and student throughout the semester. Have an appointment with the
Professor for his/ her consultation time.
Gender and Development. All oral and written communication output/ class interaction are required to observe the use of gender
sensitive language.
Harassment and Discrimination. The course prohibits discrimination and harassment based upon race, ethnicity, sex (including sexual
assault), pregnancy, color, religion, national origin, physical or mental disability, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity,
and genetic information. Any student who has concerns about such behavior should the Professor.
Religious Accommodation. In the academic work in the class, everybody is required to refrain conflicts with student’s religious
practices and/ or observances. For an exemption, the student may request reasonable accommodations. This request must be in writing,
and the Professor will review the request and this may even seek for assistance from the Dean.
