Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging technique that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of the inside of the body. MRI machines use strong magnets to align hydrogen atoms within the body and radio waves to perturb the alignment of these atoms. The computer then analyzes the radio signals from the atoms to build up detailed images of tissues and organs. MRI provides clearer images than CT scans and X-rays without using ionizing radiation.

1882- Nikola Tesla first described the rotating magnetic The MRI system uses _______ that alter the magnetic

Disadvantages of MRI
- Patient’s Table Χ Machine is extremely expensive
This component simply slides the patient into the MRI Χ Require patients to be in the machine for a long
