LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 10
I. OBJECTIVES
PROGRAM STANDARD The learner demonstrates communicative competence through his/ her
understanding of literature and other texts types for a deeper appreciation of
Philippine Culture and those of other countries.
GRADE LEVEL STANDARD The learner demonstrates communicative competence through his/ her
understanding of literature and other text types for a deeper appreciation of
World Literature, including Philippine Literature.
CONTENT STANDARD The learner demonstrates understanding of how world literature and other
text types serve as sources of wisdom in expressing and resolving conflicts
among individuals, groups and nature; also how to use evaluative reading,
listening and viewing strategies, special speeches for occasion, pronouns and
structures of modification.

The learner proficiently delivers an argumentative speech emphasizing how


to resolve conflicts among individuals or groups.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD

SPECIFIC LEARNING At the end of the given period, the students are expected to:

2. create original piece using any figure of speech that has been
discussed.
3. realize the beauty and purpose of figures of speech in various
literary works.
II. CONTENT

III. LEARNING PROCEDURES


A. PRELIMINARIES  Prayer
 Greetings
 Checking of Attendance
B. REVIEW > Review of the previous lesson.
The ST will ask random questions to the students about the topic they
recently discussed.
C. MOTIVATION Task 1: “Which is way more Attractive?”
The learners will be divided into 2 groups. (By row)
They will be given 3 minutes to huddle and discuss which of the 2
photos is way more attractive and why? After that, 1 representative
will go in front and explain their thoughts.

By the time the representatives are finished of their presentation,
they will proceed to the 2nd activity.
D. ACTIVITIES Task 2: “Read, Read the Sentence”

In this activity, the learners will be tasked to read the sentences and study
each.

1. The deafening silence can be felt inside the room.


2. I've told you that a million times.
3. Knight in shining armor, come rescue me.
4. He is as busy as a bee.
5. His argument was as clear as mud.

Questions:
1. What have you noticed about the underlined words?
2. What do you call a word or phrase that gives figurative or connotative
meaning? To a certain sentence?
3. How do you think it helps in literature? (HOTS)

The ST will finish the activity by stressing, “We can relate those
pictures from the first activity and the underlined sentences on the
2nd activity to literary pieces. Those with vibrant colors stand out the
most because it catches our sight. Do you agree? Same goes to a
literary piece. We find the story or selection boring if it's too plain.
Today, we will be discussing the Concepts of Figures of Speech.”

E. ABSTRACTION Task 3: “ORAL RECITATION”

The ST will throw questions about the topic they discussed. The ST
will ask random number from the learners and will start counting
from the first person at the back row. The lucky person will be the one
who’s going to answer the questions. The activity will continue until
they’re finished answering the ff. questions.
1. What do you mean by figures of speech?
2. How many figures of speech we have just discussed?
3. Can you name 3 commonly used figures of speech?
4. Can you define Simile?
5. Can you give me an example of Simile?
6. How about Metaphor? Can you define it?
7. Can you give me an example of Metaphor?
8. Can you define Personification?
9. Who can give an example of Personification?
10. What's your favorite figure of Speech? Why?

NOTE: Student’s answer may vary. Highest score will be 6.
