Formula

Coulomb's law describes the electrostatic force of attraction or repulsion between two point charges. The force is directly proportional to the product of the charges and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. Electric field intensity due to a point charge is calculated by dividing the charge by 4πε0 times the square of the distance from the charge. The electric field can be determined for various charge distributions, including a single point charge, a charge at the center of a coordinate system, or a volume charge density.
