Unconfined Compression Test On Soil Stabilisation With Lime: Fig. Shear Stress Failure Plane

The document describes an unconfined compression test performed on soil samples with different percentages of lime added (0%, 3%, 6%, 9% lime). The test measured the compressive strength of the soil cylinders over time under an axial load until failure. The results showed that as the lime content increased, the compressive strength of the soil also increased, with the highest strengths observed at 6% lime content. Above 6% lime, the strengths started to decrease again. This demonstrates that lime stabilization can improve the compressive strength of cohesive soils up to an optimal lime content percentage.
