JOSEFITO TALIMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
I.Overview
The Josefito Taliman Elementary School of Sitio San Jose, Don Mariano Marcos, Lupon, Davao
Oriental conducted the Fourth Quarter Earthquake Drill on November 14, 2019 at exactly 2 o’clock in
the afternoon.
Before the drill had conducted, The School DRRM Coordinator oriented the teachers about the
precautions and instructions that must be done before, during and after the earthquake which
dessiminated and explained later by the teachers to their respective pupils. Furthermore, Teacher’s
explained the importance of having the said earthquake drill, particularly in the school which will help
in preparing for a real emergency.
As the bell rang, teachers and pupils immediately evacuated the building/classroom and headed
to the evacuation area. The ringing of the bell indicates that there has been an earthquake happening.
There were atleast Fifty five students who participated in the activity which was assisted and guided
by 6 teachers. ( Grade 2 and Grade 4 students and teachers were not able to participate the actvity
due to important matters that they have attended to)
On this drill, only few students were not able to follow instructions and evacuation area was
already established.
II.Problems Encountered
However, there are some problems encountered as the drill was done. They were the following:
a. very few of students were observed to be not serious in performing the drill
b. few of studens weren’t able to follow instructions especially in lower grades
III.Recommendations
To ensure a smooth flow of the drill next time, the following are recommended:
a. teachers should assist the students especially in the lower grades during drill
b. teachers should give the instructions to the students clearly
c. teachers should explain deeper to the students the importance of such drill to ensure their
safety when such event happens in real life
