Executive Summary

Inspection of railway carriage factory was a great affair for me regarding its assessment.
Close to constrained assets, besides huge measure of work they were successful in meeting
their courses of events productively.
Regardless of the nearness of enough security and welfare
offices, numerous territories still needs change with respect to health & safety. Since there
were more prominent odds of wounds, sick wellbeing, casualty and harm to gear. Variables to
be concern incorporate danger of flame due to cutting/grinding, respiratory issues by
breathing in unsafe welding fumes, danger of tumbling from height, danger of causing burn if
acidic tank breaks, vibration disorder by lathe machine and other vibrating machine,
unnecessary utilization of console (grinder) for long time may cause carpal passage
syndrome, not utilizing PPEs while working different machines and amid various procedures
may cause physical wounds/wellbeing perils. These zones require quick enhancements.
Indirect cost of these
mischances might be 10 times higher than the cost of correction. These issues are additionally
identified with some breach of safety laws of Pakistan and International labours organization
so they ought to be corrected as quickly as time permits. A large portion of the issue revealed
were identified with absence of use of heath and security methodology and poor support
Points of interest of discoveries and perceptions identified with risks are joined with the
report. Results and suggestion with cost are given with timescale in the conclusion part of
report

It was observed during inspection of paint section that worker was not using
safety respiratory mask and safety googles as fumes of paint is very harmful if inhaled in
large amount. Workers in fabrication department using CO 2 welding also called oxyacetylene
welding torch without respiratory mask. Similar practise was also monitored in wood section
when worker was cutting wood which is the main cause of wood dust all these practices can
cause lungs damage even leads to death. Respiratory mask should be provided for
departments where there is a risk of respiratory dieses and their implementation should be
ensured too. Ammonia mask cost just PKR 7000 per mask with cartilages and dust mask cost
just PKR 500 per mask.

arm vibration introduction (HAV), other than being a known contributing element to carpal passage
disorder and other ergonomic-related wounds, makes coordinate damage the fingers and hand,
influencing feeling, finesse, and grasp. These wounds are crippling and compensable. Entire body
vibration (WBV) is a thought when managing higher than anticipated levels of low back torment and
damage in the workforce and is a standout amongst the most inescapable reasons for lost time and
generation yield .Cost of getting less vibration machine would be around 150,000 pkr per unit

Conclusion
After assessment and gathering of information it is clear that there is a considerable insufficient
provisions on safety of worker in Railway Carriage Factory Islamabad. It is legal responsibility of
CFI, ought to be to make an unmistakable health and safety approach and Management should
demonstrate clear arrangement towards Health and Safety at working environment otherwise
breaching of industrial laws could prompt fines and criminal court procedures The development
of health and safety ought to be great correspondence implies which incorporate signage,
composed and verbal. It can also be implemented by great Supervision and checking of labourers,
this might regular working environment assessments and audits.
The labourers are typically not literate giving them trainings may help accomplish consistency
and change in safety related conduct of the labour. The labourers are ignorant of the outcomes of
risky acts and by and large they don't comprehend the significance of Personal Protective
hardware. It is essential in the wake of passing on wellbeing message and trainings that strict
disciplinary move ought to be made against the labourers not agreeing on rules and restriction
while those workers who were obey laws and restriction should be given rewards and honours

In order to avoid serious

accidents and financial loss it is the duty of employer to not only provide workers safety but also
focus on to provide safe workplace free from hazards .This could be accomplished by providing
basic health and safety gadgets like first aid facility, emergency escape routes and monthly
rewards for obey safety rules which will help to promote positive safety culture among workers
within organisation By keeping in mind the ways of reducing hazard, Best controls ought to be
utilized to limit dangers at source is engineering parameters. In last there is a need to make safe
arrangement of work by errand investigation. This will extraordinarily decrease any health and
safety risks. The labourer ought to be prepared about ergonomics of hardware and wherever
reiteration is included there ought to be work turn.

The sheltered working practices ought to be supported and proceeded at Railway Carriage
Factory. I have examined every one of the proposals and ventures of change in health and safety
with administration of Railway Carriage processing plant and they have respected my discoveries
and suggestions with full help at administration level to actualize them. Also this would decrease
the rate of sickness and dangerous risks and would improve the notoriety of Factory. Assigning
funds for safety measures would spare manufacturing plant from high expenses and
remunerations in the event of mishaps, sick wellbeing or fire. The Recommendations to improve
health and safety have been given by me at the end with proper time scale.
