Year 4 Listening Lesson Plan

This lesson plan is for a Primary 4 English listening skills class. LESSON PLAN

SUBJECT : English

YEAR : 4 Bestari

DURATION / TIME : 60 minutes / 12.30PM-1.30PM

THEME : World of Self, Family and Friends

TOPIC : Where are you from?

FOCUS SKILLS : Listening

CONTENT STANDARD : Listening 1.2 Understand meaning in a variety of familiar


(MS) contexts
Listening 1.1 Recognise and reproduce target language
(CS) sounds
LEARNING STANDARD : Listening 1.2. Understand with support specific information
(MS) 1 and details of longer simple texts
Listening 1.1. Recognise and reproduce with support a wide
(CS) 1 range of target language phonemes

LEARNING OBJECTIVES : By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
1. Identify the children’s name based on the country by listening to
a song entitled ‘Friends from around the world’. (MLO)
2. Identify and pronounce the initial phonemes of the countries
accurately. (CLO)
CROSS CURRICULAR : Values / Medium of Instruction
ELEMENTS
ACTIVITIES  Some of the pupils will be selected to match flashcards of the
I. PRE-LESSON : countries’ flags and the word cards of the country names on the
board.
 Teacher corrects pupils’ answers on the board.
II. LESSON DEVELOPMENT : 1. Teacher introduces names of the countries in the world by
showing the flashcards of the flags of different countries one by
one and pronouncing the initial phonemes.
2. Teacher divided the pupils into four groups and distributes a set
of flashcards of the flags of different countries to each group.
3. In group, pupils take turn to say the names of the countries
aloud as well as their initial phonemes. Their friends will check
their answers. (CLO)
4. Teacher explains the task to the pupils.
5. Pupils listen to the song for the first time.
6. Pupils identify the children’s name based on their country of
origin based on the song.
7. Pupils listen again to the song to check their answers. (MLO)

III. POST-LESSON :  Pupils listen to the statement mentioned by the teacher. Pupils
stand up if the statement is correct and sit down if the statement
is incorrect.
