In this journal concerns Islamic law, Islamic law is the laws held by Allah for His people
brought by a Prophet, both laws relating to belief (aqeedah) and laws relating to amaliyah
(deeds). With the existence of the Law in Islam means there are limitations- limits that must
be obeyed in life. Because it can not be imagined, if there is no law, someone will do
something they want to do including sinful acts. Discussion of the sources of Islamic law,
including the main problem (usul) because from these sources the origin of all Islamic law /
law. Therefore to determine a source of Islamic law must be based on certainty (qath'i) of
truth, not something that is alleged (dzanni). The following are sources of Islamic law:
1. Al Qur'an: Al-Qur'an is the word of God which was revealed through the mediation of the
angel Jibril to the Prophet Muhammad by using the Arabic language accompanied by truth
to be made hujjah (argumentation) in terms of his recognition as an Prophet and to be used
as a legal guide for all mankind.
2. As Sunnah: Sunnah is the words, deeds and taqrir (determination / agreement / silence)
of the Prophet Muhammad SAW to something / actions of a friend he knows. The Sunnah is
the source of Islamic law which has the same truth value as the Qur'an because the Sunnah
also comes from revelation.
3. Al Ijtihad: Al-Ijtihad is trying hard to determine the law of a problem that is not confirmed
directly by the Al-Qur'an and or Hadith by way of istinbath (exploring its appropriateness in
the Qur'an and or Hadith) by ulama- expert scholars after the death of the Prophet
Muhammad. Ijtihad can be done using Ijma ’, Qiyas, Istihsan, Istishab, Mashalah
Mursalah,‘ Urf (tradition).
