CERTIFICATE OF APPROVAL
This is to certify that we have examined and approved the mini project for 3rd semester in
Engineering, Bhubaneswar. We here by accord our approval of it as a mini project work carried
out and presented in a manner required for its acceptance for the partial fulfillment for the Bachelor
Degree of Technology in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering for which it has been
submitted. This approval does not necessarily endorse or accept every statement made, opinion
expressed or conclusions drawn as recorded in this mini project, it only signifies the acceptance of
We are thankful to our respected Head of the Department Dr .P.Kanungo who have
given us a great opportunity and Manikant Kumar and Sanjoy Kumar Mohanta to
guided us to complete this project. We have taken help from the internet from where
we got important data and information. We have also got hold of some information
from a magazine. We have enjoyed and learnt a lot during the completion of this
Engineering Department personnel for their help and details explanation on various
systems.

ABSTRACT
In this project, we have demonstrated the functioning of a simple car parking system.
In this project we create a parking system which calculates the total capacity of cars
and direct the cars to the appropriate position. IR sensors used as slot sensors to
system.
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Managing the whole parking system in many public places like malls, exhibition etc.
is quite a tough task as it involves managing space for new vehicles. Moreover, there
is a lot of men labor involved for which there is a lot of investment. So, this project
slot is vacant in any lane along with the total parking capacity.

technology and based on AVR architecture. This is the most commonly used AVR
that comes with CPU, ROM, RAM, EEPROM, Timers, Counters, ADC and four 8-
bit ports called PORTA, PORTB, PORTC, PORTD where each port consists of 8
I/O pins.
LED:-
The LED is a PN junction device which emits radiation when a current pass
Through it in the forward direction (i.e. when LED is forward bias). The charge
carrier gives up energy in the form of heat and light. If the semi conducting material
is translucent, the light is emitted and junction becomes the source of light..
The 16×2 LCD display is a very basic module commonly used in DIYS and
circuits. The 16×2 translates and display 16 characters per line in 2 such lines. In

forms an adjustable voltage divider. If only two terminals are used, one end and the
current flow, adjust signal levels, to divide voltages, bias active elements, and
terminate transmission line, among other uses. Fixed resistors have resistances that
DIODE :
crystal diode is to conduct to current in one direction only. A crystal diode can be
represented by a symbol shown in figure. The arrow in the symbol indicate the
direction of conventional current flow a crystal diode. It has two terminal anode and
cathode. If anode of diode is positive. to cathode the diode is forward bias. If anode
of diode is negative w.r.t cathode diode is set to be under reverse bias condition.

following robots) and obstruction counters/sensors (used for counting goods and in
and opening and closing of gate is done manually. When a car enters the
parking area, the IR sensor placed at parking area gives High output to the
display the present state of the slots and to the motor driver. When all parking
locations are occupied i.e. the capacity becomes zero, the LCD gives a

which indicates directly which parking slot is vacant in any lane along with the total
parking capacity. This project can be used for parking system in any shopping mall,
multiplex. It can be used for industries, commercial, educational institute. This can
be expanded in sense of security by using Mata detector, RFID and using CCTV
cameras. We can add pick and place facility to park the cars automatically.
