Introduction
‘The Gould 4035 provides a combination of Digital
Storage and Real-time facilites and caters for measure-
ments from DC to 20MHe. The digital method of storage
provides many advantages notably the facilites for
Viewing pretrigger information and displaying waveforins
flicker free for an indefinite period. The dual 20S
analogue to digital convertors maintain the full storage
specification for single or dual ciannel operation for
timebase speeds of 50 secjdiv to Susec/atv. Controls are
available 10 lock the data individually for each channel
allowing comparisons to be easily made between wave:
forms.
‘The analogue output enables the waveforms to be
recorded permanently on a chart recorder at a selected.
‘output speed. Auto plot will allow any number of
‘captured events to be recorded automatically in a baby
sitting mode.
In addition the 4035 has 2 GPIB Talk only mode, which,
will send out the contents of the specified store to @
digital plotter, in a form accepted by a number of
available plotters with a GPIB interface
‘The 4035 features two idemtical input channels with a
‘maximum sensitivity of 2mV/diw and a bandwidth From
DC to 20MM The channels may be displayed sepa-
rately of together in both Storage or Non Storage modes.
The ability to display the sum or difference of the
chanel inputs and an XY mode operation are available
in che Non Storage mode. The timebase ranges are $O0ns/
Storage mode. A x 10 facility expands the upper sweep
speed to SOns/div in Non storage and gives expansion 10
observe the full detail of the Tk word stored traces.
[A pair of cursors are available on elther trace, for con:
‘venience in making measurements on the traces. A 16
character display on the screen displays the time and.
voltage difference between the wo cursor,
A GPIB interface is fitted, sv that 4 GPIB conticler
(cea microcomputer) can obtain stored trace infor
ation from the oscilloscope and i required send &
trace to the screen. It also permits emote control of
the oscilloscopes digital controls
Variable controls are avallable for input sensitivities and
Non storage timebase speeds
‘The comprehensive trigger facilities have an ‘auto” func-
ton to assist the operator by ensuring a trace is present
fn the absence of trigger. AC & DC coupling and either
channel or external source selection with @ line supply at
the rear panel ensures the appropriate trigger is avail-
able forall applications, An active TV syne separator is
provided for viewing or storing video waveforms.
[Additional factities are provided sults IKI calibrator
signal, DC coupled Z modulation input and a trace
rotational control
‘The instrument is portable and the use of a large custom
integrated circuit has reduced the number of components
swith the benefit of reliability and ease of maintenance.FOR SERVICE MANUALS,

Single Trace CHI or CH2.
Dual Trace Nonstorage, Chopped or Alternate Modes,

Between OSus/div and 0.2ms/diy the Alternate Mode
is selected whilst on ranges slower than 0.2ms/div
‘Chop Mode i selected. The Chop frequency is
500kHz, (In Storage Mode the capture is
simultaneous),
‘Add CHI and CH2 added to give the algebraic sum of the
two channels inputs (Non-Storage Mode only).
Invert CH2 may be inverted. When used in conjunction
with Adé Mode, it gives the algebraic difference of
the two channels,
X-Y CHI gives X deflection and CH2 input gives Y
deflection, (Non Storage Mode only).
