SUMMARY
INTRODUCTION
This report contains the results of the routine PVT analysis study for SEG1-C1. The studies
involved the following tests:
QUALITY CHECK
Two (2) bottom-hole samples (cylinder no: 1152-AC & 1153-AC) were subjected to preliminary
validation check. The bubble point pressure of the cylinders were determined at reservoir
temperature of 199 ˚F. A portion of the reservoir fluid from the cylinder was charged into high
pressure visual PVT cell and subjected to bubble point pressure determination at reservoir
temperature of 199 ˚F. The results of the quality check are tabulated in Table 1.
COMPOSITIONAL ANALYSIS
Based on the recommendation from XXXX, sample from cylinder no: 1154-AC was selected for
further analysis. The composition of the reservoir fluid was analysed by a spike flash technique.
The sample was flashed from reservoir condition to atmospheric conditions to obtain oil and gas
at equilibrium conditions. The evolved gas phase was circulated for sufficient period of time for
the oil and gas to achieve equilibrium. The gas oil ratio (GOR) was then measured.
The composition of the equilibrium gas (from C1 to C11+ including N2 and CO2) was analysed
using the the Natural Gas Analyser (NGA)
The equilibrium oil was analysed using the High Temperature Gas Chromatography (HGTC)
which gives detailed hydrocarbon compositions from C3 to C40. However, from the
chromatogram produced, no n-alkane peaks (straight-chains paraffins) were observed. We
believe that the sample has been severely biodegraded hence practically almost all straight chain
alkanes been removed by the bacteria.
The composition of the reservoir fluid to C20+ was obtained from the mathematical
recombination of the compositions of the equilibrium gas and oil based on the flashed GOR of
52.45 scc/cc. The compositions of stock tank oil, stock tank gas and reservoir fluid are tabulated
in Table 2.
A known volume of the reservoir fluid was charged isobarically into the high pressure visual
PVT cell. The sample was then heated to the reservoir temperature of 199 ˚F, and the pressure
was monitored to ensure the fluid is in single phase (5000 psig). After thermal equilibrium was
established, the sample was subjected to a series of pressure drops. At each pressure reading, the
volume of the sample was measured using the Camcorder Detection Measurement System. The
bubble point pressure of the sample was determined to be 2320 psia at 199 ˚F. The results of the
CCE test are given in Table 3 and graphically presented in Figure 1.
The sample was equilibrated at the bubble point pressure of 2320 psia and reservoir temperature
of 199 ˚F. The reservoir fluid was subjected to a series of flash processes below bubble point
pressure. At each pressure stage, the volumes of oil and gas were measured using the Camcorder
Detection Measurement System. The liberated gas was then removed from the PVT cell, and its
volume measured using the gasometer. The gas composition was analysed using the NGA. The
gas deviation factor and specific gas gravity were calculated using the gas compositional analysis
results.
At each stage of pressure drop the gas weight removed from PVT cell was calculated based on
the volume and gas specific gravity. Then the oil density was calculated based on the measured
oil volume and oil weight in the PVT cell. The Differential Vaporisation Test data are listed in
Table 4 and graphically presented in Figure 2 to 6
VISCOSITY TEST
A viscosity measurement were performed on the reservoir fluid at the reservoir temperature 199
˚F using the Capillary Viscometer.
At each pressure drop below the bubble point pressure, the liberated gas was removed from the
viscometer and its composition was analysed using the Gas Analyser. The gas composition was
then used to calculate the gas viscosity. The results of the viscosity measurements are tabulated
on Table 5 and graphically presented in Figure 7.
Due to insufficient volume of sample, one single stage separator test was conducted. The test
was conducted at separator conditions as specified by XXXX to determine the effect of separator
pressure and temperature on separator volume factor, gas oil ratio, oil and gas density and stock
tank oil gravity. The liberated gas was expanded to room conditions and the volume measured
using the gasometer. The gas evolved at each pressure stage of separation was collected and
analysed to C11+ including N2 and CO2 using the Natural Gas Analyser. The single stage
Separator Test results are presented on Table 6 to Table 11.
