PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS IN CADBURY

Earlier the confectionery and soft drinks making company Cadbury done the performance
appraisals individually. But with initiating a new appraisal program they have boosted staff
performance by shifting from individual appraisals to pay based on business results.

 Name of the program is International Performance Management Program which started


across the entire company.

 Pay is linked to the program , which assesses performance by measuring the amount of
profit each business unit made after costs of generating the revenue were subtracted from
the total.

 Over the last four years this program ensured that all staff feedback linked to the
company’s goals of doubling shareholder value and achieving earnings per share growth
of at least 10 per cent.

 Method of appraisal also examines and evaluate an employee`s work behavior by


comparing it with preset standards.

 The results of the comparison with standards is documented.

 For the Individual performance appraisals company believes that it did not create any
value and in future all the paper work will be reduced to a one page summary.

 Over the last four years the company has doubled shareholder value through performance
program. It made a great deal of difference to the way company achieved, the results
compared to the previous ones.
