SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL

I. INTRODUCTION AND DRILL SCENARIO

In line with the campaign of the Department of Education (DepEd) in


equipping the school children with the knowledge, proper attitude and skills on
what to do in case of natural disaster like earthquake, Talacogon Integrated
School conducted its quarterly earthquake drill in the school November 14, 2019
at exactly 9 o’ clock in the morning. Mrs. Hazel Joy P. Pagador, the school head
lead the activity with the teachers and their respective classes. The drill was
carried out simultaneously and smoothly. All grade levels occupied the
designated area for the drill, based on the school evacuation plan.
On November 14, 2019 at exactly 9 o’clock in the morning a siren sound
blurted for one minute as a signal that an earthquake is currently happening.
Everybody in their respective classes ducked and covered themselves under
their armchairs and tables. After that, the teachers lead their advisory classes in
heading to the designated evacuation area located in front of the stage. They
were grouped together according to the class where they belong. Then, all
classroom teachers did a headcount to make sure that all pupils are accounted
for. Ms. Angelyn A. Pamisa, the school DRRMC coordinator announced the
termination of the drill. In summary, the drill was successfully implemented and
nobody was injured because the routines were systematic and everybody was
cooperative during the activity.
