0 INTRODUCTION TO INDUSTRIAL TRAINING

1.1 Industrial Training Background

Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) has made
it compulsory to do Industrial Training as a course to be registered by all Diploma in Computer
Science student. This code registered as CSC397. Students are need undergo a practical training
in industry for eight weeks training scheme in an organization.

1.2 Objective

Application for practical training in a well-established company to gain self-motivation and self-
development, and also to provide excellent commitment to the company.

1.2.1 The General Objectives of Industrial Training

 To expose students to the real environment of computer-related occupations


related to computer science such as system development, web development,
software development, web application development, mobile apps
development, multimedia animation / application development and computer
maintenance.
 To practice the theories learned at universities with a real working
environment.
 To expose students to new developments in solving data processing problems
as well as system development, applications and software.

1.2.2 The Specific Objectives of Industrial Training

● To understand and develop responsible manner in the real working environment.


● To acquire an experience on working in industry that suit with the related course.
● To develop a professional ethical value.
● To enhance the ability in communication skill.
● To have a good professional bonding between workers and student in industry.

1.3 Industrial Training Scope

Scope of the industrial training must let the student expose to the real working
environment and give them an opportunity to apply their skill and knowledge
in their related specific fields that they have taken in university.

1.3.1 The Industrial Training Scope for CS397

 Conducting a case study on the subjects being directed.


 Prepare the necessary documentation for writing a program.
 Implement a system in accordance with the instructions given either verbally or through a
document prepared by the responsible officer / organizer of the organization.
 Learn and execute the tasks of computer programmers as much as possible.
 Develop or maintain a system / software.
 Develop an animation / multimedia application.
 Develop web applications or 'mobile apps'.
