RCA For Hotwell Level Transmitter Faulty.

Causes of Failure

Level Transmitter Display card with CPU burnt

Heat transfer internal to Transmitter occured from process Exhaust steam


leading to damage Display card & CPU.

The major cause behind this could be gradual entrance of Superheated


steam.

As we all know to maintain Export Bidding Slots we need to Dump the


excess steam from Boiler through Dumping valve which rigourously vary
Hotwell level along with its temperature.Hence during this period carry
over of temperature entered the Hotwell Level Transmitter Electronic part
to destroy it gradually.
Heat transfer internal to Transmitter occured from process Exhaust steam
leading to damage Display card & CPU.

Replacement of Transmitter with the new one.

Kept under regular observation with proper covering.

Now Hotwell level tripping shifted back to Level Transmitter and working
normal.

Hotwell level tripping shifted to Level Switches instead of Transmitter


temporarily.

Since Display with CPU card is an electronic part which is out of warranty.Hence
decided to replace the transmitter after discussion with Vendor.
