Petroleum Engineering (Ingenieria Petrolera) : Campo de Aplicación)
Petroleum engineering combines scientific and practical methods to discover, exploit, develop, transport, process, and treat hydrocarbons from reservoirs to final products. It uses principles from fields like physics, chemistry, and applied mathematics. Petroleum engineers work on multidisciplinary teams with geologists, geophysicists, chemists, and physicists to interpret data and develop optimal extraction methods using new technologies. The main areas of petroleum engineering include exploration, reservoir engineering, drilling engineering, and production engineering.

Petroleum engineering (Ingenieria Petrolera)
Petroleum engineering is the part of engineering that combines scientific
and practical methods aimed at developing techniques to discover, exploit, develop, transport, process and treat hydrocarbons from their natural state, in the reservoir, to final products or derivatives.
Knowledge areas (areas del saber)
Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
Scope (Campo de aplicación)
Discover, exploit, develop, transport, process and treat and manage hydrocarbons
Applied Science (Ciencias aplicadas)
The knowledge and techniques employed by petroleum engineers come from almost all fields of science. The principles of Physics and Applied Chemistry are used in all stages of hydrocarbon exploitation, from exploration to conversion of these into consumer products.
Multidisciplinary teams (Equipos multidisciplinarios)
The oil industry is made up of multidisciplinary teams that work together to find and produce the oil trapped underground. The petroleum engineer has the ability to interpret the data received from geologists, geophysicists, chemists and physicists, and to develop optimal methods for the development of the deposits using all the new technologies available.
Campos de la ingeniería de petróleo (Campos de la ingeniería de
petróleo) Exploration (Exploracion) The exploration task includes all the hydrocarbon search activities. Fundamentally it is developed through the application of geophysical prospecting methods and the elaboration of surface and subsoil maps by geologists, with the aim of inferring about the configuration of the subsoil strata and their composition, which can provide clues about the existence of favorable environments for the accumulation of oil or natural gas.
Reservoir engineering (Ingenieria de Yacimientos)
Reservoir engineering is one of the most important parts of petroleum engineering, as it is the link between an oil or gas reservoir or reservoir and surface production systems.
Drilling engineering (Ingenieria en Perforacion)
Design the drilling of wells, developing the particular programs or designs of: augers; drill strings; casing pipes; control fluids; geophysical records; production tests (if applicable); cementations; deviations (if applicable); continuous record of hydrocarbons (if applicable); obtaining nuclei (if applicable); fishing (in cases of mechanical accidents); well control programs (in cases of lack of control); Well completion and tools to use, both in exploratory and development wells.
Production engineering (Ingenieria en Produccion)
Production engineering is responsible for applying technical and scientific knowledge to the transportation of resources from the field to ports or refineries. They are in charge of the final stage in the exploitation of hydrocarbons, which is the conversion of these into commercial products of common use, which include fuels, medicines, clothing, cosmetics, among others.
