This document provides information about petroleum engineering. It discusses that petroleum engineers study the earth to find oil and gas reservoirs and design extraction systems. It notes there are three types of petroleum engineers: drilling engineers who specialize in drilling operations; production engineers who study well characteristics; and reservoir engineers who design field development. The document also outlines that a bachelor's degree in engineering is required for petroleum engineering jobs and describes the typical curriculum over 4 years of study.

Under Supervison of Mr. Hishyar Barwary

1
 Objective of the Presentation
 Who are Petroleum Engineers?

 Types of Petroleum Engineering.

 Preparation of Petroleum Engineering.

2

Petroleum Engineers are those who study the earth to find oil
and gas reservoirs. They design oil wells, storage tanks, and
transportation systems. They supervise the construction and
operation of oil and gas fields. Petroleum engineers with other
scientists are researching new technologies to allow more oil and
gas to be extracted from each well by a less dig cost . They help
supply the world's need for energy and chemical raw materials.
They design equipment and processes to achieve the maximum
profitable recovery of oil and gas.

3
 Petroleum Engineers specialize into three major types
of engineering

Drilling Engineer: Who specialize in drilling and work over operations. He

is responsible for the design of the earth penetration techniques, the
selection of casing and safety equipment and often direction of operation.
They determine the best way to drill an oil or gas well and ensure that the
drilling process is safe, efficient, and minimally disruptive to the
environment.
Drilling engineers will spend the first two to three years of their career in
the field on drilling rigs. They work with the drilling managers to oversee
the day-to-day operations of the rig.

4
Production Engineers who specialize in studying wells
characteristics, understanding well characteristics helps
them maintain oil flow over period of time. His/her work
involves controlling and measuring the produced fluid.
They use various chemical and mechanical procedures to
maximize oil recovery from the well

5
Reservoir Engineers who design an implement the plant
development of an oil field. They definite size of an oil field
by measuring it’s boundaries and it’s depth Study a reservoir’s
characteristics and determine which methods will get the
most oil or gas out of the reservoir.

6
A bachelor's degree in engineering is required for almost all
entry-level engineering jobs.
Admissions requirements for undergraduate engineering schools
include a solid background in mathematics (algebra, geometry,
trigonometry, and calculus) and science (biology, chemistry, and
physics), and courses in English, social studies, humanities, and
computer and information technology.
Bachelor's degree programs in engineering typically are designed
to 4 years. In a typical 4-year college curriculum, the first 2
years are spent studying mathematics, basic sciences,
introductory engineering, humanities, and social sciences.
Petroleum engineering students may also take courses such as
Reservoir Petro physics, Petroleum Engineering Systems, and
Physical Geology during these years.

7
In the last 2 years, a petroleum engineering program
might include courses in Drilling and Production
Systems, Geostatistics, Well Performance, Reservoir
Fluids, Petroleum Project Evaluation, Engineering
Ethics, and Well Completion and Stimulation.

8
Supervising and managing oil field is mission of PE . There
are three major types of Petroleum Engineers: drilling,
reservoir, production Engineers.
They can work at oil companies after graduating and
getting Bachelor degree in PE
I wish you be perfect PE and help development and growth
of kurdistan toward the best……..
