Delivery, Storage and Handling: ‘© Storage temperature range will be from -400 to 1490 F (-400 to 650 C). Thefibre optic cable shall be shipped on reels in lengths as required by the project. © The cable shall be wound on the reel so that unwinding can be done without kinking the cable. ‘* Two meters of cable at both ends of the cable shall be accessible for testing. All optical fibre shall be tested on the reel for continuity and distance compliance before installation. ‘¢ Marking: Each reel shall have a permanent label attached showing length, cable identification number, cable size, cable type, attenuation, bandwidth and date of manufacture. Labels shall be water resistant and writing on the labels shall be indelible. © Preservation of electronic equipment and tools: A controlled indoor storage location shall be used for preserving electronic equipment. The Reel Test of the fibre Optic Cable includes: a) OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) Test. b) Power Meter Test. ¢) CD (Chromatic Dispersion) & PMD (Polarization Mode Dispersion) Test. © Conduct a Pre Job meeting and raise work permit to ensure everybody knows their duties and responsibility. ‘Check all materials are procured and matching with specification. Review the vendor information and material details. ‘© Check the routes chosen to install cables and ensure all permits are available. ‘© Prepare schedule and review with all representatives. liar with all the communication signals that will be ‘© Ensure that all personnel are fa used, © Ensure safety rules are followed and review with safety department. = Page 6Doc. “| AYCIMS/COM/002 Revision 03 AlYAMAMA = | eae Pages 7 —L METHOD STATEMENT FOR INSTALLATION OF FIBER OPTIC CABLE © Before starting the install, it will be ensured that all permits are available for inspection, required power are available in the site, 24-hour security are arranged in the site, all relevant personals are notified, all safety rules are posted at the site. ‘© Site Engineer will check for any existing utilities and obstruction on the area like existing pipes, sub ducts and cables physically in the duct bank and the trench. * Concrete encased duct bank will be done in compliance with approved Method Statement for Underground Ducts and Raceways AYC-MS-COM-001. ‘© Site Engineer will ensure that the duct bank and manhole installation for the fibre ‘Optic Cable will be in accordance with SAES-T-624 & SAES — A — 114, Specification Section 270543. ‘© During installation, Site engineer will inspect the workmanship at every step. * Daily process and progress will be reviewed and immediate responses will be taken for every problems and shortages. ‘© SAPMT will be kept up to date on daily progress. Will proceed with pulling the cable from designated manhole to manhole, manhole to pedestal, pedestal to pedestal, manhole to building and pedestal to buildingthrough designated sub ductsand keep loop of minimum 3m cable as required inside the manholes by means of cable puller. © Shall use lubricant as per manufacturer's recommendation and provide slack loop length at splice points, typically 15 meters on each end inside manhole or pedestal. © Maintain the bending ratio of the cable more than 20 times the cable diameter during installation, avoid any kinking of cables during pulling. ‘© Proper cable racking inside the maintenance hole shall be followed to avoid cable damage and blocking the other cables coming in. © QC inspector will inspect the area to confirm new proposed FOC to comply with the standard SAES-T-624, specification section 271300 of general specification and drawings and offer for PID inspection. All FOC cable will be pass through designated or assign sub duct and manhole. Site Engineer will ensure that all the Construction Activities shall be performed with Approved IFC Drawings. © Splicing will be carried out in Protective splice tray within Splicing enclosures by complete cover-up. Installation materials and procedures shall comply with the manufacturer's recommendations. © Thefibre splice module shall be utilized for all OSP Terminations. The link shall consist of the fibre cable, the splice, the splice tray, the fibre panel, a premanufactured fibre pigtail with pre polished fibre connector, and a fibre jumper to connect the pigtail- coupled link to the appropriate electronic switch a) Fitting of Fibre Protection Sleeve. b) Removal of Cover Layers Page 7 —Doe. Reinforce the fibre with the sleeve on the heater). All the FOC Pulling and termination will be witnessed by M/s. AYC QC Inspector and offer for SA PID inspection. Fibre Optic Cable Installation(cabling methods) ‘As OSP installations are more diversified than premises installation, special care will be taken when pulling the cable outside. Designated Engineers will study the route and analyse all the situations which shall encounter during the routing process. Cables will be spliced and collected in an enclosure or buried underground or pedestal wherever the cable ends. Special methods will be adopted to avoid twisting of cables. Cables will have rolled off the spool instead of spinning off the spool. Swivel pulling eye will be used to pull the pull rope to minimize the twisting forces on the cable. Aramid yarn will be separated into two bundles and looped in through the swivel eye in opposite direction and then tied knots on each bunch at the eye and strength members will be looped back to the cable jacket, then it will be taped to thecable jacket. AYC/MS/COM/002 Revision 03 al yamama | ba | masnanre Pages g (METHOD STATEMENT FOR INSTALLATION OF FIBER OPTIC CABLE ‘* For intermediate pulls, for pulling on one end, the cable will be pull out slowly and carefully from the sub duct and laid on the ground on a large “8” pattern on a clean sheet, and then the cables will be flipped up to get the pulling end of the cable on the top attach the end to a pull rope and then continue pulling using swivel eyes. © For mid-span pull, the cable reel will be placed a mid-point on the long span. Cable will be pulled through the conduit to the one end of the span. Then the cable will be rolled of the reel to a pattern “8” on the ground and then the second end will be pulled through conduit to the other end of the span, 8. Cable Bend Radius * Following Bend Radius specification will be maintained throughout the Fiber optic cable installation: a) During Installation, a bend radius more than 20 times the cable diameter. b) After installation, a bend radius more than 10 times the cable diameter 9. Labelling and Documentation * Labelling system shall consist of a computer generated system and labels appropriate to the application. Handwritten labels will not be used. The label shall be located on the conductor as close as possible to the termination point.
