Cat25 C/hr. Hold Cat25 C/hr. Hold Cat25 C/hr. Hold: o o o o o o o o

The document outlines a procedure for refractory dryout of castings that involves allowing castings to dry at ambient temperature for 24 hours, then gradually increasing the temperature over intervals of 12 hours to 110°C, 250°C, and 400°C before decreasing the temperature to 150°C. It also provides a 10-step procedure for maintaining boiler drum level during refractory dryout by using boiler fill pumps and ensuring vents and drains are open.

PROCEDURE:

Refractory dryout

Castings shall be allowed to dry out at ambient temperature for 24 hrs.

Raise temperature to 110o C at 25oC/hr. Hold at 110o C for 12hrs.
Raise temperature to 250o C at 25oC/hr. Hold at 250o C for 12hrs.
Raise temperature to 400o C at 25oC/hr. Hold at 400o C for 12hrs.
Decrease temperature at 50oC/hr. up to 150oC and put off burner.

Procedure for Boiler feeding during refractory dryout

1. Ensure both Boiler fill pump & Boiler feed pump availability.

2. All the vents to be kept in open condition (including RH vent).

3. Eco drains at water wall drain header are kept open & other drains to be kept in closed condition.

4. Filling line valve at 6.5ML to be kept open.

5. Start one Boiler fill pump, open pump discharge valve and then open discharge Water wall inlet
header valve at ‘0’ ML for Boiler feeding ,fill up to normal working level.

6. Start refractory dry out process (By temporary oil guns)

7. When drum level reaches to required level, close discharge valve and then stop the pump.

8. Boiler feeding during refractory dry out shall be done with one Boiler fill pump.

9. During refractory dry out process maintain drum level by starting/stopping boiler fill pump.

10. In case of non availability of both fill pumps drum level to be maintained by boiler feed pump.
