Objectives: By the end of these activities SWBAT:

Activity 1:

* Identify the sounds of the letter of the English Alphabet

* Spell their own names / last names

* Remember their peer’s names

Activity 2:

* Recognize and pronounce the days of the week

* Identify the Months of the Year.

Activity 3:

* Identify the difference between Cardinal and Ordinal Numbers (1-50)

* Recognize and express dates / months / day (say their Birthdays) by


using ordinal numbers.

Activity 4:

* Recognize and express in which month is their Birthday

Activity 5:

* Design their Facebook page.

T must try to memorize all names as soon as possible.

T. will present the alphabet to the class once more, and ask if somebody wants to try
to say it by themselves. Ss who gets it right can pick another volunteer student to try
Activity 1: it. Once this has been practiced and reviewed T. will spell out some words to see if
they can guess what it is. Ex: OK. “M O U S E” and explain what it is, expanding ss
vocabulary as much as possible.

Ss will have to spell out their own names or their peer’s names.

T. must always write chunks on the board: “What’s your name? “How do you spell
that?” “When’s your birthday?” “How old are you?” “How are you?” “Fine, thank
you!” “Nice to meet you” “nice to meet you too”

Activity 2: Days of The Week

T. will point to the board (to where the date is written: Today is Wednesday, January
16th, 2015) and ask What day is it? Then ask them if they know anymore, and list them
on the board. Then organize them with the Ss. On the board. Practice the 15 min

Reading / pronunciation of the days of the week.


Pronunciation

Have them Complete the sentence:


Listening / My favorite day of the week is _________.

Months of The Year

Point once again to the date on the board, and ask “In which month are we?”

Pronunciation Once again elicit if they know any others, and write them down randomly on the 10 min
board.

Divide the class in small groups. Make small cards (or on paper) with the months of
Listening / the year (1 set for each group), and have them organize them together, then have
Writing each group send 1 person as an ambassador, to see the other groups work, before
checking with the whole class.

Then write the question: “When is your birthday?” “My birthday is in_____.” Before
writing the month you were born in, act as if you forgot; take out your “ID”, then 10 min
complete the sentence.

Activity 3: NUMBERS:

Reading / T. will explain CARDINAL (ONE /TWO) / ORDINAL (FIRST /SECOND) numbers 20 min
Pronunciation (NUMBERS 1-50) and practice pronunciation.

Writing Ss. Copy numbers.

Listening / T. will explain that we use ordinal numbers for birthdays (Order! Point out their order
Writing in the list) and cardinal numbers to count things. (3 pencils, etc. practice counting
other objects in the class room) 15 min

Ss will be able to say when their birthdays are.

Activity 4: *Attendance*

Colors:

Listening T will introduce colors by going around the room and pointing at different objects 10 min
saying the color. ( you can take different colored sheets of paper, markers, crayons,
etc., to do the demonstration)

T. will call out a color, and Ss wearing that color need to stand up and point to the

T. says the color, now spells it out for the Ss to write down.

Activity 5: LETS GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER:

Listening / Ss will be able to write 4 sentences about themselves. “My name is Luis. I am 21 years 10 min
Writing old. My birthday is on November 22nd. My favorite color is blue.”

Ss will work in pairs and say each other’s information: “This is my friend Tomas, he is
22 years old. His birthday is on December 1 st“ 10 min
Writing

1 pair of Student will get together with another pair of Ss, each Ss introducing another
person to the rest of the group. 10 min
Listening /
Speaking
Provide Ss with a copy or draw a Chart on the board and have them draw it on a blank
sheet of paper.

Then each Ss will have to fill out their “Interview”.

INTERVIEW: SS will have to interview 3 students and find out information from them,
using the questions they have learned in class. T. will provide the list of questions. No
less than 5 no more than 10

Ex. “What’s your name? “How do you spell that?” “How old are you?” “What’s your

Ss go around the classroom talking to other Ss.

Wrap Up Go over the day, by asking different Comprehension Checking Questions touching on 5 min
everything seen in class today.
