Google Classroom and Google Meet
Google Classroom and Google Meet
Create Google Classroom subject-wise, not class-wise. If more than one teacher is
using the same classroom, this may cause issues while using Google Meet and
also in grading the students
Under Google Classroom settings, students may be given rights to comment only.
Avoid giving students can post and comment on class stream, as this may cause
the class stream to get filled with irrelevant posts by the students.
Inviting the parent/guardian is turned on for the classrooms. So you can invite the
parents to get notifications, if you like.
Google Meet
Use the Google Meet link provided for the classroom to conduct online meeting
with your students. Do not use the Generate Google Meet option available in
Google Calendar. The meetings created using Google Calendar gives equal rights
to all participants. This may be used for staff meetings, not for live classes with
the students
The teacher should leave the Google Meet only after all the students have left the
classroom. Normally, if you are using the Meet Link from classroom, the students
can join only after the teacher joined. But they may continue using the meet if the
teacher left the meet. Once the teacher leaves the meeting after all the students
have left, students will not be able to rejoin.
If the teacher got disconnected during the meeting, she or he can rejoin the
meeting immediately.
Recording of the meeting is available only for the teachers. The recorded video
will be available in the classroom drive folder.
In most of the cases, the error reported while accessing the Google Apps on
mobile devices is due to logging in using the wrong account. Teachers/Students
may be instructed to ensure that the correct institutional Google account is
selected as the user while accessing the services. This can be checked on the top
left side of the Google Classroom or Google Meet and the account can be
switched to the correct one.
The Google Meet will be available on top of the Google Classroom in the form of a
camera icon
In case the apps are not accessible on mobile devices check that the permissions
are given for storage, sync under setting for Google.
For better performance while on Google Meet close all other apps that are
running in the background.
Google Forms
Google Quiz has an option to upload files (image, pdf, documents) etc. by the
students which can be used for getting assignments submitted by the students.
Google Quiz can have descriptive type of questions that can be evaluated
manually by the teachers by going to the Responses tab and clicking the
Questions tab in the middle of the responses.
The responses from Google Quiz or Google forms can be downloaded as a csv file
by clicking the three dots on the top right.
Clicking the Green Spreadsheet icon on top the responses can be added to a
Google Sheet.
If you want the students to access the Quiz from outside the domain, uncheck
“restrict within domain” option under settings.
Google has informed that few features recommended by the teachers are in the
pipeline and can be expected to be made available in due course.
Any issues/problems faced in using G-Suite for Education may be reported to the
