This work-flow is designed for registering on the college website for admission
purpose. We have two lanes, the ‘student’ lane which depicts the actions performed
by those interacting with this website and the other is ‘DBMS’ lane which is the
back-end infrastructure of the website which manages everything.
As soon as the user registers, the DBMS checks if the previous id is already in use.
If this happens the website displays an appropriate message. Next the student is
asked to enter all his details. After doing so, he moves on to upload the necessary
documents in the prescribed format and size limitations. In case of success he’s
directed to the payment gateway but in case of failure he’s redirected to upload
documents page with an appropriate message.
The student then has to make the payment, which when successful, the student
can download a copy of his registration form. If the payment fails, the student is
shown the message and if any money is deducted, he receives it in a few days.
Following the download a copy task which can be performed by the student, the
process ends.
The first step is to create a pool/swimlane and the first task for the passenger is to
enter the terminal. Note that the passenger may enter the terminal in different
ways. Passengers usually enter the terminal at the point where the transportation
mode changes. For example, passengers may be dropped off by a private vehicle or
a bus at the curbside.
The first task in the process (Enter Terminal) and the two gateways represent the
decisions that the passenger must make when entering the terminal.
As soon as the passenger enters the terminal, the passenger needs to make the
decision on where to go next. Possesion of a boarding pass (or not) is typically the
deciding factor on where to go next. Even with the possesion of a boarding pass,
the passenger still may need to drop off any checked baggage.
If the passenger has a boarding pass and has bags to be checked in with the
airline, the passenger can proceed directly to the bag dropoff area. Dropping off the
bags may require additional steps such as scanning the boarding pass, showing an
identification, or pay a fee.
If the passenger does not have a boarding pass after entering the terminal, the
passenger may be presented with two options. One option would be a self-service
ticket counter while the other would be a full service ticket counter. If the
passenger also has bags, typically the passenger would be able to drop-off the bags
at the selfcheck in counter or at the full-service counter. In some cases, after
obtaining the boarding pass at the self-check in, the passenger may need to
proceed to the bag drop-off area as the other passengers that enter the terminal
with a boarding pass.
Once the passengers have obtained their boarding pass and dropped off their bags,
their next decision to make before they move to the next task is to determine if
they need to proceed to emigration passport control before they can continue to
security screening. If the boarding pass is for a domestic flight, then the passenger
can proceed to the security screen area and then complete the security screening
tasks.
If the boarding pass is for an international flight, then the passenger must go to
the passport control area and complete the passport control task. This step only
applies to airport located in counties requiring an emigration check.
Both domestic and international passengers process then to the security screening
check point.
The final model is get ready, to make the model easy to Understand, I recommend
keeping the number of activities in each process low.
