 Brainstorming – is a group of problem solving technique that involves the spontaneous


contributions of ideas from all members of the group.
It is a technique in selecting and organizing ideas that each member of the group thinks of
suddenly focusing on the topic.

ORIGIN OF BRAINSTORMING
Alex F. Osborn began developing methods for brainstorming list because his employees inability
to develop creative ideas individually. In response he began hosting group-thinking sessions and
discovered a significant improvement in the quality and quantity of ideas produced by
employees.

Five Strategies of Brainstorming


1. Cubing- an idea examined from distinct viewpoints:
1.1 Describe the topic- How do you describe the topic? It is like “what is it?”
generate ideas that tell what the subject looks like, that appeal to the five sense (i.e.,
sight, sound, taste, touch and smell).
1.2 Compare- Compare and contrast it. “What is it like or unlike?”

1.3 Associate it- How does the topic connect to other issues you’ve dealt with
before? It is like “ What does it remind you of?”
list the memories or thoughts that come to mind in reflecting on the subject.
1.4 Analyze it- Is it possible to break down the issue?
break the subject down into parts and then tell how each of these assists in propelling
or driving in particular direction of a topic, story, paper, film.
1.5 Apply it- How is it used? Who uses it?
you state how the subject or topic can be used or applied
1.6 Argue for against it- Explain your position for supporting or not supporting it.
you argue both pro and con, that is, looking at both sides of the topic.
Topic: Cyberbullying
1. Describe it

Bullying which is harassing or threatening individual that takes place through online
social media, text, and apps

2. Compare it-

Before, when technology was not common bullying was experienced personally that can
be physical or verbal bullying, Now, it’s commonly takes place through social media.

3. Associate it- What are the things you remember or memories about the topic?
Example: They posted about unnecessary things about me.

4. Analyze it.-
(Break the topic into small pices like putting subtopics)
Ex: You can state the cause, effect, and solution of cyberbullying.

5. Apply it- (Tell how is bully do it)

6. Argue it- Do you support it or not.
