a) Brief Overview of Course: The course is the practical component of CHM222


course. Topics include sampling technique and statistical treatment of data,
solvent extraction, simple separation techniques and chromatography.

b) Course Objectives/Learning Goals: At the end of this course, students are


expected to:
i. Understand the concept of quantitative chemical analysis.
ii. Understand the theory and basic principles of separation techniques.
iii. Be able to carry out chemical analysis under sound analytical practices
and skills.

f) Ground Rules & Regulations: Strict adherence to conventional safety rules


regarding ethics and conducts in the laboratory. These include but not limited to:
i. Use of lab coat
ii. Prohibition of dangerous practices such as eating or playing while working
in the laboratory
iii. Bench surface should be kept clean and all reagent bottles clearly labelled
iv. All glass wares or lab wares must be washed before and after use

will acquire skills necessary for conducting chemical analyses under sound
analytical practices.
