A. Course Description:

This course introduces the theories, concepts and principles pertaining to the behavioral, sociological, political, economic psychological and
cultural aspects of tourism.

B. Course Objectives

By the end of the course, you should be able to:

1. To appreciate the importance of tourism


2. To identify the factors that favors the growth of tourism
3. To show awareness of the factors motivating people to travel
4. To explain the role of tourism in economic development
5. To describe the social nature of tourism
6. To discuss the cultural factors which appeal to tourists.
7. To discuss the direct and indirect components of the tourism network
8. Be aware of the career opportunities in tourism
9. Be familiar with the current trends and issues in the tourism and hospitality industry

A. Course Requirements

Class Standing (attendance, behavior, recitation, assignment and reports) quizzes and periodic examinations / project
(research/marketing plan and case study).

B. Grading System

Requirements Grading Percentage


Attendance, Seat work, Recitation and Assignment 30%
Quizzes 30%
Examination 40%

C. Classroom Policies

1. Students should be officially enrolled in the subject.


2. Students should come on time. Punctuality should be observed. 15 minute grace period is applicable for emergency cases only.
3. Students should comply with all the requirements given by the teacher in-charge. It has to be submitted on time. Late submission is
not allowed.
4. Any forms of cheating are not allowed. Be honest at all times.

D. Consultation Hours

Will be once a week after school.  


You may make up tests (with excused absence) or get missing work.   
Save all returned work. Your returned work is your proof of points earned on 
assignments.
