Term I-CSCF Interfaces (Caller and Called Are IMS Subscribers)

The document describes the routing of an initial SIP INVITE message between the components of an IMS network when the caller and called parties are IMS subscribers. The Originating S-CSCF routes the INVITE to the Terminating I-CSCF after authenticating and authorizing the caller. The I-CSCF queries the HSS to identify the Terminating S-CSCF, adds a route header, and forwards the INVITE. Subsequent response messages retrace the path back to the caller, with each component removing its entry from the Via header.
