Instructions to Students
There are four (4) sections in this exam. The exam comprises ten (10) questions.
• Attempt every section
• Start each new section on a new page
• Clearly label each section
• Save a copy of your document/s before uploading
• Exam is worth 40 marks. Marks for each section are indicated.
Question 1. Compare and contrast three differences between data and data warehousing. (5 marks)
Question 3. List two advantages and two disadvantages of using Artificial Neutral Networks. (2 marks)
Question 4. Describe two business applications where cluster analysis can be applied by business
owners and explain each cluster grouping in detail. (8 marks)
Section 3: Decision Tree (10 Marks)
• Use an Excel Spreadsheet for this section;
• Name the sheet “Section 3” (i.e. rename the tab at the bottom of the worksheet)
Question 5. Develop a decision tree for the given data set. (8 marks)
Question 6. Based on the decision tree, determine the loan approval status for the following instance.

Suppose that you are given a data set of coffee sales for 20 days from a coffee shop (see Table A).
In that data set, there are six attributes: day number, temperature in Celsius, coffee sales, number of
cups sold, coffee with milk sale and coffee with sugar sale
You have been hired as a data analyst to generate insights from the data. Now based on the given
data set (Table B), answer the following questions:
Question 7. Is there any relationship between temperature and the amount of coffee sales? If yes,
explain your answer. (2 marks)
Question 8. If you are asked to predict the coffee sales amount based on the temperature then which
type of regression model would you choose? Justify your answer. (2 marks)
Question 9. Derive the regression equation using excel and discuss the model fit in terms of its R2
value. (4 marks)
Question 10. Now, for the 21st day, the predicted temperature is 35˚ Celsius. How much coffee are
they going to sell? (2 marks)
