“Explain in detail the applications of IT in
our daily lives”
Computers are used in almost every field of our lives.
From film industry to medical industry and from
educational institutions to financial institutions,
almost every department and industry employ
computers to solve the problems that they face on a
daily basis. Some the fields that make use of
computers are the following;

1. Business
Businesses employ computers to do their daily
calculations and analyses. Computers have
become an integral part of the business world due
to its speedy calculating ability and high accuracy.
Business organizations use computers for the
following purposes;
• Payroll calculation

• Budgeting

• Sale analysis

• Financial estimation

• Managing employees’ databases

• Maintenance of stock etc.

2. Banking
Modern day banking is nearly wholly dependent
on the usage of computers and internet. Banks
provide the following services online, current
balance, deposits, interest charges, shares and
trustee records. ATM (which is also a form of
computer) is making it a lot easier for customers
to withdraw money from banks.

3. Insurance
Insurance companies use computers to keep their
records up-to-date. Computers are used by
insurance companies, finance houses and stock
brokering firm all over the world.

• Insurance companies maintain a database of all


clients through computers.
• They keep their procedure to continue with
policies.
• Different dates
• Survival benefits and
• Bonus etc.

4. Education

Computers have been of great help in the


education sector.
• Computers provide a tool called CBE which

stands for Computer Based Education


• CBE involves control, delivery and evaluation

of learning
• Computers are used prepare papers, result-
sheets and to keep their presence record.

5. Marketing
Apart from analytical tools that a computer can
provide to a marketing-analyst, computer helps
them out a lot with regards to advertisements.
With the help of modern day computers,
marketing-professional can create intriguing
advertisements which they can later advertise in
the whole world using social media. Computers
and internet have given a rise to ‘e-commerce and
social-media marketing’. They are now separate
disciplines.

6. Home Shopping/online shopping


Online or Home Shopping has been made possible
only with the help of computers and internet. Now
people can buy whatever they like to buy just with
a click of mouse. They no longer need to take
long walks to the shops. This revolution was
brought about by the Information Technology.

7. Health Care
Computers are used in hospitals and dispensaries
all over the world to keep the records of patient
and to keep a check on the supply of medicines.
Computers are also used for scanning and for the
purpose of diagnosing different diseases. ECG,
EEG, CT-Scan and Ultrasounds are done with the
help of computers. Some of the major fields that
make use of computers are the following;

• Diagnostic systems
• Lab Diagnostic system
• Patient monitoring system
• Pharma Information System

8. Engineering Design
• Computers are widely used in the engineering
field
• One of the major areas is CAD (Computer
Aided Design). CAD creates and modifies
images of a given project
• Structural engineering— requires stress and
strain analyses for the design, for which this
field makes extensive use of computers.
• Industrial engineering—Computers deal with
design, implementation and improvement of
integrated systems of people, materials and
equipments.
• Architectural Engineering—Computers are used
to design buildings and whole cities.

9. Military
Military uses computers in modern tanks, missiles,
drones and missile-systems. Military also has
control-systems which are made possible by
Information Technology. The following military
equipments use computers;
• Missile system

• Military communication

• Military operations and planning

• Smart Weapons etc.

10. Communication
Billions of people use computers around the globe
to communicate with each other. Some of the
media which communication possible are the
following;

• Email
• Chatting
• Video-conferencing
11. Government
Computers are used in many areas when it comes to
government departments. Some of them are the
following ones;

• Budget
• Sales’ tax department
• Income tax department
• Male/female ratio
• Computerizing of vote-lists
• Computerization of driver-license
• Calculating imports and exports
• For evaluating country’s economy
