Exponents: Exponent Coefficient

The document discusses exponents and laws regarding operations with exponential expressions. Law 1 states that when like bases are multiplied, the bases are kept and the exponents are added. Law 2 states that when like bases are divided, the bases are kept and the exponents are subtracted, with the exponent of the term on top being subtracted from the exponent of the term on bottom if the bottom exponent is larger, and vice versa. Several examples are provided to demonstrate applying the laws by keeping the appropriate sign, coefficients, and variables, and performing the indicated operation on the exponents. Exercises provide additional opportunities to practice simplifying exponential expressions using the defined laws.
