3 (a). In a jogathon, Ali took 6 minutes to finish the first kilometer of a 10km run. He could
not maintain his stamina for each subsequent kilometer, he took 10% more time compared to
the time he took for the previous kilometer. The participants who finished the run more than
two hours are not qualified to receive any medal. Did Ali qualified? Show the calculation to
support your answer.

11.Use the graph paper to answer this question
Lim buys x pens and y story books from a supplier at a price of RM6 and RM4 perunit
respectively. His purchase is based on the following constraints.
I. Lim has a capital of RM4800
II. The number of pens is not less than two times the number of story books.
III.Lim wants to sell the pens and the story books at a price of RM10 and RM7 per unit
respectively and expect the total profit must be not less than RM1200.
(a) Write three inequalities, other than x≥ 0 and y≥0 that satisfy all the constraints. [3]
(b) Using a scale of 2cm to 100 units on x-axis and 2 cm to 50 units on y –axis, construct
and shade the region R which satisfies all the constraints.

(c) Using the graph constructed , find
(i) the maximum profit that can be made if Lim sells all the pens and story books
that he buys.

(ii) The minimum profit that can be made if Lim sells 200 story books.
