1 Course Objectives:

The purpose of this course is to provide to the students the basic information
about the Law & Justice – its history and formation, the philosophy behind
it. This course also deals with the salient features of the Constitution, India
as a Union and its territories. The concept of Nationality and Citizenship will
also be dealt so that the learners can understand the concept of dual
citizenship and the acquiring of citizenship.

2 Prerequisites: Nil
 
3 Course Learning Outcomes:

1. This course shall create an understanding of the concept of


globalization in day to day life.
2. To help students to evaluate about the value of different legal systems
and the factors that are responsible in succeeding and failure in
promoting different conceptions of justice

3. This course shall aid a student in analyzing on the effects of


globalization on certain international relations and trades.

4. The course shall focus on the application of the role of globalization on


certain aspects of juvenile and gender justice and the significance of
various global forums.

Meaning and concept of globalization; impact of globalization on


legal and judicial matters. globalization & economic affairs; fair
trade practices; globalization & development; universal norms of
justice; rule of law, equality & equal justice, political, social and
economic justice, fair trial; gender equality, juvenile justice
5 Module II International Law and Governance 25% Weightage

Basic principles of international law; incorporation of


international law principles into national laws; Global governance
bodies: League of Nations, United Nations -- powers, functions
and role in ensuring adherence to rule of law; UN bodies and
major agencies.
6 Module III Human and Humanitarian Rights 25% Weightage

Concept & classification of human rights; major UN instruments


on human rights; system of their ratification by the states;
Humanitarian laws: nature & scope, basics of refugee law, current
issues like exodus from Middle East to Europe; issues of
Bangladeshis & Rohangias in India
7 Module IV Global Justice Forums 25% Weightage

International Court of Justice; International Criminal Court; UN


Human Rights Council; UN Rapporteurs on Human Rights and
Religious Freedom; other UN Rapporteurs; NGOs like Amnesty
International, HRWF & MRG, etc; global media surveillance of
human rights situation across the world.
10 Pedagogy for Course Delivery:

The course will be delivered through Lecture, using examples and case
laws.
