Competences:
At the end of this sequence, each student should be able to :
3.1 Introduction
Axonometric perspective is an orthogonal projection of the object on an oblique plane with
respect to the main faces of the object. The projection of these faces is therefore not in real size.
Note:

Figure 3-2: Different axonometric perspective
Characteristics:
The isometric axes are at 120° to each other. The starting orientation should be chosen as best as
possible to describe the object in its natural position. For some long objects, one of the axes can
be chosen horizontal.
10
To get the dimensions of an isometric perspective, the dimensions must be multiplied by the k-
factor and then multiplied by the scale.
It is possible to construct an ellipse when its major and minor axes are known. Their properties
are described in the next 5 steps.

3.3 Dimetric perspectives
They are interesting when you want to highlight one side of the object but they require more
work than the previous ones.
Principle:
Dimetric axes have two equal angles among the three that position them: generally two large
angles plus one small one. Many combinations are possible. For the most common ones, there
are standard canvas and ellipse sketch. Usually one of the axes is placed vertically.

Exercice 1 :
Complete left view and the top view, and draw the cavalier perspective according to the front
view with scale 2:1, k = 0,5 and ∝ = 45°
Exercice 2 :
Complete right view and the top view, and draw the cavalier perspective according to the front
view with scale 2:1, k = 0,5 and ∝ = 45°.
