 Marking the coordinates of the required footings.
 Taking the levels of excavations.
 Making sure the required level of Backfilling needed by the Client.

Excavation
 Prior to star of any excavation, NAMA AL AMAL will check for the existing
services/utilities by obtaining the approvals with reference to the relevant
drawings.
 The necessary excavation activities shall start only after getting the notice intent
from the client / consultant
 Excavation of the respective trial pits is 1 meter down the NGL level as per the size
indicated in the approved drawings up to the required length and level.
 The Excavation will done calculating the dimensions of the footing in additional of free
space for foam work and their support.
 In open areas the excavation will be carried out by using the machineries, the
exact location of each trench and pit being subjected to the prior approvals.
 NAMA AL AMAL will provide suitable dewatering methods, while performing the
works according to the scope of work.
 Excavation done will resemble a Straight line of coordinates allocated by the
surveyor.
 The required control measures shall be developed and implemented while
performing the works and more importance will be given for public safety and
environmental issues.
 Where ever there is a crossover of the existing services/utilities, these shall be
protected with utmost care with the prior permission of concerned authorities and
approved methods. The contractor shall obtain the necessary approval from the client

 NAMA AL AMAL will take the necessary precautions to prevent damage to the
road or ground surface due to a slip or breaking away from the side walls of the
trench including the pedestrian safety as well.
 The vehicle entry will be restricted on the specified work area by prior approval
from the concerned agencies.
 Excavations in sand shall be to a slope of 1:3, one vertical to three horizontal. If
any permanent slope is to be kept in the sand it shall be stabilized by one of the
following means,
Mass concrete blinding

Cement/sand mixture

Bituminous/cement mixture

 Trim and form the edges of soil to profiles and levels as indicated in drawings.
 For Rock excavation hard excavation shall be carried out by ripping, excavation,
wedging, chiseling using jack hammers, or by other recognized methods approved by
OWNER/ENGINEER. Blasting will not to be adopted under any circumstances for rock
excavation.
 The bottom of the excavation shall be levelled and trimmed to receive the permanent

 NAMA AL AMAL will take material approval for the fill materials from MODON prior to
transportation of fill materials. Rock fragments in excess of 100 mm, which may exist in
natural desert fill material, shall be removed by screening at site or by other appropriate
method in order to comply with the gradation limits indicated in MODON Standard
Specification.

MIXING, SPREADING AND COMPACTION:

then be spread in layers on the fill area by means of shovels and graders. The first layer
shall be maximum of 250 mm thickness of loose materials and the subsequent layers
shall be of 250 mm compacted thickness. The speeded fill material is compacted by
Plate compactor with adequate number of passes to achieve the required compaction.
The compacted area shall then be tested for required Field Dry Density. Desert fill shall
be compacted to a maximum density equal to 95% of Maximum Dry Density as
determined by BS 1377.

TESTING FREQUENCY:
 Field tests shall be carried out at the following frequency:

 Density and moisture content (as determined by BS 1377 test 15B or 15C) one test per
500 cum of compacted fill.

 The frequency of Insitu compaction testing by means of Nuclear Gauge Method shall be
of one test per 2000sq. m of compacted area.

Environmental Impacts Assessment:
The assessment will be carried out by using Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA) procedure
has been developed, to determine a methodical approach to the identification of hazards, and to
assessment of the associated risk implied by those hazards.
The below extract taken from the HIRA procedure shows the qualitative measurement principles.

P.P.E (Personal Protective Equipment’s):

 Safety shoes
 Safety vest
 Safety gloves
 Safety suit
 Safety goggles
 Safety helmet

EMERGENCY PROCEDURE:
Slow response, lack of resources, or the absence of trained personnel will lead to chaos in an
emergency. To minimize human suffering and financial losses, all personnel must know their
responsibilities under the emergency response plan.

Remember – planning for emergencies should include the following points:

1) hazard identification/assessment

2) emergency resources

3) communication systems

4) administration of the plan

5) emergency response procedure

6) communication of the procedure

7) debriefing and post-traumatic stress procedure.

The plan should be used to set emergency procedures, implement and communicate the procedures,
and ensure that any required training has been completed. The plan should also be evaluated regularly
to ensure that it conforms to current operations and conditions.

In any Emergency Response Procedure, the following steps are basic and essential:

• Stay calm.
• Assess the situation.
• Take command.
• Provide protection.
• Aid and manage.
• Maintain contact.
• Guide emergency services

PERMIT REQUIREMENTS:
Manpower contract is required for labors to work at site.
All work which includes Hot work, excavation works, backfilling work, elevated work and
general work requires internal permit system to maintain the quality of the work.
Any Arrivals of the material at the site should have an Approved material copy and delivery
report by the site authorization.

8. ENVIRONMENT:
IMPACT ACCESSMENT
Construction of Fences and Gates can create Air pollution as the Excavation work lead to
movement of sand.
This construction process may not lead to Water pollution as there is no Water resource
nearby. It may affect the contamination of ground water if its close to the Ground surface.
It may also affect to Noise pollution as the excavation process and other processes may need
big machines and generator which may lead to loud noises
It is necessary take protective measures about the construction. Ex. If Execution work is been
processed at the its better to clear the area before or attach a wide spreading cloth so that the
surrounding does not get polluted because of the construction.
If a water stream is located near the site its better to avoid leftover or the construction waste
to slip down the stream.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURE
The plan should be used to set emergency procedures, implement and communicate the procedures,
and ensure that any required training has been completed. The plan should also be evaluated regularly
to ensure that it conforms to current operations and conditions.

In any Emergency Response Procedure, the following steps are basic and essential:

Stay calm. Assess the situation. Take command. Provide protection. Aid and manage. Maintain contact.

CRITICAL WORK
Unloading steel and Fabricating Steel is one of the critical works to be done carefully with all
safety. It can be hazardous and accidents may take place causing life.
Welding of steel: Steel welding id also a critical part of the work, if precautions not taken it can
lead to life taking accidents. If a steel particle get contact with eyes it may lose their eyesight.
Precautions: One must use all his P.P.E during the time of welding. Most important is Welding
goggles.
