Task 02

- Describe two ways that Fraser Foods can measure managerial performance. Explain
how each measure can be utilised to assess managerial performance.
Managerial Performance means the process of communication between a supervisor and an
employee in an organization that occurs throughout the year, in pursuit of achieving the
organization's strategic objectives. There are four ways to Measure managerial performance
they are:
1. Efficiency (simply explained as how the workers use the time without wasting the
time and giving the customers the quality service or a product )
2. Economy (Economy is a whole network of manufacturers, retailers, and customers in
a local or national population of products and services.)
3. Effectiveness ( Effectiveness is making product using low cost with quality
Products)
4. Equity (Equity is all stakeholders who help company run should have equal
opportunities and benefit from equity.)
How Fraser Foods measure managerial performance
1. Efficiency:
 Fraser food ensure all packaging products are sourced from suppliers that
demonstrate efficiency and maximize recycling techniques.
 Customer received orders on time.

2. Economy
 Freser food is aware about the changing market in food and the importance of
responding to that changing market.
 Government legislation places a levy on packaging

3. Effectiveness
 Robin wants to make processes less labour intensive, increase productivity and reduce
unit costs.

4. Equity
 Giving company newsletter which gives an overview of the whole organisation.

Task 03

- Describe two ways that Fraser Foods can measure managerial performance. Explain
how each measure can be utilised to assess managerial performance.
Behavioral theories of leadership are classified as such because they focus on the study of
specific behaviors of a leader. For behavioral theorists, a leader behavior is the best predictor
of his leadership influences and as a result, is the best determinant of his or her leadership
success.(Leadership-Central.com. n.d. Behavioral Theories Of Leadership. [online] Available
at: <https://www.leadership-central.com/behavioral-theories.html>.)
There are 3 behavioral theories of leadership they are The Ohio State Studies, The Michigan
Studies, McGregor’s Theory X and Theory Y.
Out of these 3 behavioral theories of leadership I would like to consider the McGregor’s
Theory X and Theory Y this organization.

Theory X
Theory X assumes that people dislike work and must be coerced, controlled, and
directed toward organizational goals. Furthermore, most people prefer to be treated
this way, so they can avoid responsibility. (J. Morse and W. Lorsch, 1970)
In Freser Food the Director David is working in the Organization just to get his salaries and
incentives. He is not responsible and not associating his staff. As a result of this many
employees are demotivated and lazy to work under leader like David. This effects the
organization very badly.

Theory Y
Theory Y—the integration of goals—emphasizes the average person’s intrinsic interest
in his work, his desire to be self-directing and to seek responsibility, and his capacity to
be creative in solving business problems. (J. Morse and W. Lorsch, 1970)
In Freser Food we can see how the organization keeps the employees motivated. Few
examples are.
 The employees are given bonuses, salaries and pensions as well as health insurance
for doing their job right.
 The employees have been given freedom by Robin Fraser to make their own
decisions.
 Etc
These will help the employee to work hard and seek new duties to fulfill their objectives and
goals

Task 04
- Identify and explain a contingency or transformational theory of leadership and
highlight its application to Fraser Foods.
In Contingency Theory of leadership, the success of the leader relies on specific
contingencies in the form of assistants, roles and/or Groups. The effectiveness of a particular
leadership style depends on the conditions set by the situation. Such ideas stress the use of
various leadership styles that adapt to the needs of specific organizational contexts. There
was no postulate of a single contingency principle. There are 3 Contingency theories of
leadership:
1. Hersey & Blanchard
2. Fiedler
3. Vroom & Yetton
Out of these 3 Contingency theories of leadership I would like to consider the Hersey &
Blanchard to this organization.
Hersey & Blanchard
Hersey and Blanchard focused on four different characteristics in leadership dependent on the
degree in encouragement and support:

Telling (S1):
In this leadership style, the leader tells people what to do and how to do it.(Cherry, 2019).

In Freser food we can see David did not involve the staff before taking decisions and claimed
that they preferred to be told what to do.

Selling (S2):

This style involves more back-and-forth between leaders and followers. Leaders "sell" their
ideas and message to get group members to buy into the process.(Cherry, 2019).

In Freser food Robin took over responsibility for production and product development and he
prefers his team to take part in customer visits and be fully aware of any issues that may
arise. And Hazim analyses sales trends of different products, evaluating feedback from
customers and ensuring that the company is keeping abreast of the changes in their market

Participating (S3):

In this approach, the leader offers less direction and allows members of the group to take a
more active role in coming up with ideas and making decisions. (Cherry, 2019)

In Freser food we can see Hazim and his team discuss their problems and ideas. Hazim gives
them freedom to use their talents in the creation of new products and how to go about their
job.
Delegating (S4):

This style is characterized by a less involved, hands-off approach to leadership. Group

members tend to make most of the decisions and take most of the responsibility for what
happens. (Cherry, 2019)

In Freser Shop floor teams are set targets but have freedom to organise the way they achieve
them.
Task 05

- Explain how theories of leadership can be used to improve the way in which
management lead Fraser Foods’ staff through the proposed expansion plans

Leadership could be simply explained as Lead/guide a group/organization. In freser food

leadership is a main objective to their organization growth and the future of the company.
Few examples are;

 Kathryn the head of the HRM team, she is keen to offer more in-house training to
ensure staff continue to have the skills the business needs.

 Sidra has a good marketing experience and sidra wants the company to tap into the
growing popularity of TV programs and in the future Fraser Foods will be able to
meet the target market.
