Theme: “Process of Safe and Continuous Water Supply with Good Governance to Maintain Adequate
Supply and its Quality to Help Fight against this timely Pandemic
There is a timely pandemic that challenging us to survive and live. But before water reached our home
from its main sources from rainwater to water reservoir and dams like here in metro manila, its
undergoes several stages of Water Treatment including sewerage treatment for waste water, before we
can consume it distributed by two concessionaires Maynilad (West Zone) and Manila Water (East zone)
regulated by MWSS ( Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System) and it’s been assured by our
president Duterte that we have enough supply of water this time WHO (World Health Organization) and
DOH (Department of Health) always reminding us of wearing a mask, social distancing and washing our
hands frequently using water as water is the safest and cheapest weapon we all could have to
fight/avoid from this pandemic caused by this virus called Covid19, That’s why it is important to ensure
the enough supply and safety of water we used to drink and consume daily is safe and not contaminated
by any foreign matter such bacteria and viruses. Being responsible in conserving of water and giving an
importance of it will bring us a safe and enough water today and for the future.

This seminar talks about the Latest Innovation trends in the field of Construction while comparing to the
Traditional Methods used. The speakers enlighten the participants on which Innovations would be
suitable for them to use as an alternative during Construction. This seminar also aimed to broaden the
perspective of the participants to look for applicable methods for in any case they are faced with
Construction field dilemma such as short construction time and being low on a budget in constructing a
project. This opens up opportunities for other Engineers to showcase their learnings from this seminar
into actual construction projects and seek experience in using these innovations on the said projects.

Since May 1,2020 strict confinements measures implemented to contain the spread virus including
extensive restrictions on public transport, safety health measures and health considerations protocols
and guidelines are immediately implemented by the Department of Transportation – public
transportation in moderate and low-risk areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) will resume
operations at reduced capacity to ensure compliance with strict safety measures against COVID-19
transmission.

Theme: CE Industry: Coping up to the New Normal and Raising Awareness against COVID-19 Pandemic
Public Health Crisis
The seminar tackles how the CE industry cope up and how they raise awareness against and during the
COVID-19 public health crisis. It also summarizes the safety and health protocols such as the interim
guidelines need to be observed and followed released by DTI and DOLE for private sectors. However, the
said interim guidelines can be applied to public sectors as well. Lastly, the seminar also tackles the duties
and responsibilities of the both employer and employees during the current situation, as well as the do's
and don’ts and penalties to be imposed.

Theme: "Foster Understanding in Bridge Building that Connects and Reduces Isolation: The Old and New
Ways"
In this date, the group 7 discussed the new ways and old ways of constructing bridges. They also
included some narrow topics such as types, foundations, and advantages and disadvantages of the said
ways in erecting bridges. They also showed activity related to the topic which is the Bridge Building
Activity. These topics are reliable to engineering students for them to gain knowledge regarding on ways
of building structures like bridges that are not familiar with them.

This seminar is about how mass timber comes back to the construction industry, the speakers discussed
the three types of mass timber namely Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), Nail-Laminated Timber (NLT) and
Glue Laminated Timber (GLULAM). They also talked about the good impact of the mass timber to the
environment, how people can save money by using this material instead of concrete and steel, the
sustainable properties of mass timber and how it is installed.

Theme: “Three Construction Material that could Revolutionize the Construction Industry”
As the time passed by, along with high technology and brilliant innovative ideas lots of materials related
in the construction popped up as they have the potential to revolutionize the traditional methodologies
that are available and efficient in the current time. There are three materials with different purpose
gives recognition by many professionals in the civil engineering field because they benefit that they are
able to give in the future. There is a “3D printed Bio-plastic” that will able to shape your ideals, the
“Modular floating dock” that are most flexible floating material that you will able to see and a non-living
material like Self-healing Concrete that able to heal itself if there’s a crack. Most of them are still under
in a study and try to make it become perfect as possible so there will be a consideration to its availability
in the economy.

Theme: “The Flagship Infrastructure Projects of the Government and Its Viability Amid Covid-19”
Build Build Build is the center piece program of President Rodrigo Duterte that ushers in the “Golden
age of infrastructure” in the Philippines that has generated jobs and economic activities particularly in
areas outside Metro Manila. Midway through President Duterte’s term, his ambitious P8 trillion
infrastructure plans have already built roads, bridges, classrooms, flood control facilities, among others
that improved the lives of many Filipinos. But due to pandemic, infrastructure program is again
undergoing a review to give priority to projects that would have the biggest impact on reviving an
economy reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic. The facilitators discussed how the government came up
to the Build, Build, Build Program and how it will cure the poverty and the lack of Infrastructure in the
country. They tackled the progress and updates of the flagship infrastructure projects individually. And
lastly, the analyzation of viability or the feasibility of the project to be done on time amid of the
pandemic.
MINUTES OF THE MEETING
AGENDA:
1) Update Dr. Gay-ya about the communication with other department regarding PS 2.
2) Come up with plausible options for the students to be able to comply for their PS 2 subject.
3) Final options for all groups are as follow: a) the group will continue with their 1 st proposal which
they would also provide the chapters 4&5 with simulation thru Design programs, b) the group
will have to go back to zero and provide complete chapters 1-5 of a new proposal with chapters
4&5 being theoretical only, and; c) the group will have to go back to zero but their final output
would be Laboratory Manuals for the subjects which have Laboratory units, they would have to
choose a particular subject and create all necessary laboratory manuals needed for the said
subject and as for the chapters 1-5, they would see to it that the contents would justify the
output that they will submit.
4) The hierarchy of approval would be from thesis adviser then next are the panels, and lastly, the
Department Head.
5) Needed to be accomplished before next meeting:
a) Query regarding extension date for PS 2.
b) Written documents of all interdepartmental and inter-campus communications.
c) Ask other departments (BSES, BENG, etc.) for any updates regarding their PS 2 subjects.
d) Approval of all panels for the change of outputs of the entire section.
