Incremental motion control systems, especially without feedback is an important area


in present day technology. It is essentially the amalgamation of electronic systems
with mechanical actuation including digital actuators which are widely used in
industry, digital systems and computer peripherals. Power electronic devices, which
are used as switches for controlling the mechanical systems, consequently, forms an

The electronic technology has evolved through aggressive process control and scalability
characterized by Moore’s Law. The result hasbeen emergence of a multifunctional “More than
Moore”regime that is increasingly multidisciplinary in nature.This course is essentially the heart of
multidisciplinary electronics as it directly seeks to exploit several disciplines in conjunction with
electronic elements to build a wide verities of hybrid devices. The course includes the topics:

Introduction: Introduction to Long Channel and Short Channel devices.

Short Channel Devices: Different short channel effects: drain-induced barrier


lowering and punch through, surface scattering, velocity saturation, impact ionization,
