Arnis

Arnis has significantly contributed to Philippine culture and national identity. It was developed by indigenous populations in the Philippines as a combat and self-defense technique using weapons. Passed down for generations, Arnis preserves a part of Philippine history and is a symbol of the country's wealth of culture and history. By declaring Arnis the national martial art and sport through Republic Act 9850 in 2009, it represents a source of Filipino pride and mirrors Philippine identity as something that originated in the country.
