Your Company Name: COMPRESS Pressure Vessel Design Calculations

This document provides design calculations for a pressure vessel including summaries of deficiencies and warnings. There are deficiencies identified for flanges not meeting material requirements and exceeding design limits. Warnings include needing higher impact testing temperatures, confirming forgings meet standards, and ensuring bolting can withstand low temperatures. The document indicates further review and analysis is needed to address uplift on saddles and inconsistent post-weld heat treatment specifications between components.

Deficiencies Summary

Deficiencies for ASME B16.5/16.47 flange attached to Shell Inlet (N3 (4"))
Use of UG-44(b) moment factor requires bolt material to have a higher allowable stress than SA-193 B8 Cl. 2 at the specified bolt size. Choose a
different bolt material.

Deficiencies for ASME B16.5/16.47 flange attached to Shell Outlet (N4 (4"))
Use of UG-44(b) moment factor requires bolt material to have a higher allowable stress than SA-193 B8 Cl. 2 at the specified bolt size. Choose a
different bolt material.

Warnings Summary

Warnings for Channel

UG-6(c): Forging must meet the requirements of UG-6(c). (warning)

Warnings for Channel Cover Flange

Jawad and Farr Guidebook, 4.3.1.3: To prevent gasket crushout a different gasket material should be used. As an alternative (space permitting)
the gasket width could be increased to 19.1 mm. (warning)
Bolting: UG-84 impact testing is mandatory per Figure UCS-66 general note (c) to an impact test temperature of -45°C. (warning)
UG-6(c): Forging must meet the requirements of UG-6(c). (warning)

Warnings for Heat Exchanger

Front Tubesheet: TEMA Table D-5: Current bolt circle (626 mm) does not provide sufficient wrench clearance, 887.98 mm recommended.
(warning)
UG-6(c): Tubesheet forging must meet the requirements of UG-6(c). (warning)

Warnings for Hydrostatic Test

The shop hydrotest pressure (44,496.04 kPa) does not meet the minimum required test pressure (44,497.77 kPa) per UG-99(b). Minimum
required test pressure has been used. (warning)

Warnings for Saddle

Operating: The right saddle is subject to uplift. The Zick analysis may not be valid in this case, nor does COMPRESS investigate uplift on the
saddle and anchor bolts. Further investigation is required, or relocate saddle(s) to eliminate the uplift. (warning)
Width of reinforcing plate (Wp = 250 mm) is less than the minimum (275.79 mm). (warning)
The Skirt/Legs/Saddles Stress Increase factor is 1.00 (Set Mode Options dialog on the Calculation page). AISC paragraph A5 permits a stress
increase factor of 1/3. For the specified seismic code the recommended stress increase factor is 1.30. Due to the mismatched building codes, there
is disagreement in the recommended stress increase factor. The current setting is appropriate for the wind code. (warning)

Warnings for Shell Head

UCS-79: The extreme fiber elongation exceeds 5 percent. Heat treatment per UCS-56 may be required. See UCS-79(d)(2)(d) or (e). (warning)

Warnings for Shell Inlet (N3 (4"))

The attached ASME B16.5 flange limits the chamber MAWP to 4,425.13 kPa. (warning)
The attached ASME B16.5 flange limits the nozzle MAWP. (warning)
The attached ASME B16.5 flange limits the nozzle MAP. (warning)

Warnings for Shell Outlet (N4 (4"))

The attached ASME B16.5 flange limits the chamber MAWP to 4,432 kPa. (warning)
The attached ASME B16.5 flange limits the nozzle MAWP. (warning)
The attached ASME B16.5 flange limits the nozzle MAP. (warning)
Warnings for Shell Rupture disc (N5 (14"))
The attached ASME B16.5 flange limits the chamber MAWP to 4,432 kPa. (warning)
Part of the pad width is beyond the limits of reinforcement. (warning)
The attached ASME B16.5 flange limits the nozzle MAWP. (warning)
The attached ASME B16.5 flange limits the nozzle MAP. (warning)

(warning)

Warnings for Shell Side Flange (front)

This body flange is being counted as a line of support for external pressure. (warning)

Warnings for Tube Inlet (N1 (3"))

Forged nozzle flange dimensions must satisfy UG-44(a)(10). (warning)
NOTE: Suitable low temperature bolting material is required. (warning)

Warnings for Tube Outlet (N2 (3"))

Forged nozzle flange dimensions must satisfy UG-44(a)(10). (warning)
NOTE: Suitable low temperature bolting material is required. (warning)

Warnings for Vessel

Inconsistent PWHT: The vessel has one or more components with PWHT, but not all components have PWHT specified. (warning)
Changes to steelmaking practices have increased the risk of brittle fracture at temperatures higher than the ASME impact test exemption
temperatures. It is highly recommended that the following supplemental requirements be applied for SA-105, SA-106 B, SA-53 seamless, and
SA-234: material composition should have a minimum Mn:C ratio of 5, and SA-105 flanges should require a grain size of 7 or finer. (warning)
This vessel has one or more weld neck flanges with para UG-44(b) option active. The analysis therein relies on certain assumptions about the
flange in question: The assembly bolt load must comply with ASME PCC-1, Appendix O; The method was developed using a spiral wound
gasket; The allowable factor should potentially be reduced for a sustained load where the bolted flange joint operates at a temperature causing
significant creep/relaxation, usually above 450 degF (232 degC) metal temperature. (warning)
Building code settings indicate this vessel contains hazardous, toxic, or explosive materials, but Lethal Service / Full RT is not specified. Review
the requirements of UW-2 to see if this is acceptable. (warning)

Warnings for Wind Code

Basic Wind Speed (135.00 km/h) is less than the minimum basic wind speed of 151.20 km/h specified as per Fig. 26.5-1C (warning)
The ASCE 7-16 wind code does not match the selected User Defined seismic code. (warning)
