Scenario A:
Consider the following network scenario and answer the below mentioned
questions.
Question 1: In the above scenario there are 13 switches have being used.
Being a network administrator, your duty is to reduce the switches in this scenario
without affecting the overall performance of a network. (Remember that we
cannot remove any computer from the network). Either it is possible or not, you
have to justify your answer as well. (4)
Ans: Yes it is possible :As we can reduced switches we can make three networks
or one network its depends on us and can reduce switches. As we can remove
switch 1,3,7,6,10,11,12,5,9 etc and can make a three networks .In this way we can
remove extra switches.
Question 2: In the above network design. Could you please identify any
errors. If your answer is no then it means you think that this network design is
error free. Justify your answer in this case.
In other case, if your answer is yes means there is an error or errors in this design
then identify the errors and also suggest the solution as well. (6)
Ans:
If all over the network there is no subnetting then it is error free network. But if
there is subnetting then error will be occurred and we can solve it by right
subnetting according to subnet mask.
First is in switch 2 red alert is creating problem but as unmanageable swtiches
automatically will set and this is because switch 2 and switch 4. Switch 2 is
2
connected with switch 4 so this make loop and that is why it is giving us red dot in
the picture above (from Switch 1 to switch 2).
2. Second is in Switch 10 to switch 13 and this is because switch 11. Switch 10 is
connected with switch 11 and switch 13 and switch 13 is also connected with
switch 11. Switch 2 is connected with switch 4 so this make loop and that is why
it is giving us red dot in the picture above (from Switch 10 to switch 13).
Scenario B:
Students consider the scenarios which you have made in your final project and
answer the following questions.
Note: Every student has to consider his/her own project scenario.
Question 1: In the project scenario, some students have done their project
using Static routing and some uses dynamic routing (RIP or OSPF). Students you
have to justify your answer that which routing mechanism you preferred and why?
(5)
Ans: As I have done my project with static routing. Basically we used static
routing when we want to make a small LAN network and when a router uses a
manually configured routing entry. So I have make my small LAN network using
two routers with four swtiches connected with devices. As we use static for small
network and dynamic for big network. In static routing table is modify manually
whereas in dynamic table is built automatically. The dynamic routing provides
optimal data routing. It used multiple algorithms and protocols. The famous are
RIP (routing information protocol) and Open shortest path First (OSPF).As
dynamic routing protocols allow routers to shares information about the network
with other routers to allow them to select the best path to reach a destination. As
according to my suggestion I will prefer dynamic routing because major issue is
that in static routing link failure the system cannot recover. So at the end I want to
say that I have used static routing in my project and I prefer dynamic reason I
have already mention above.
Question 2: In the project, you have also used routers. Is it possible that we
could remove routers and use only switches in the network? Whether your answer
is yes or no, justify it as well. (5)
3
Ans: NO: As according to my given scenario in project I can’t remove the
routers. Reason is that if we remove routers in my project will not work because
we use routers when we have two different network with different classes IP
addresses and when we used switches we must use same classes IP adresses. In
this way it will work.It is possible only that we can remove routers if in the project
same classes was mentioned. So according to current scenario it is not possible.
