ASK (Amplitude Shift Keying) is a digital modulation technique where the amplitude of the carrier signal is varied to represent binary data, while keeping the frequency and phase constant. The key advantages of ASK are that it has a simple receiver design and modulation/demodulation processes, and can transmit digital data over optical fiber. However, ASK has lower power efficiency and is very susceptible to noise interference due to its reliance on signal amplitude. It is also less robust to errors than alternative techniques like BPSK.
