POPULASI, SAMPEL DAN SAMPLING
• Obtaining accurate information and ensuring that the information was
representative of the general population
• These two points essentially sum up what good study design is about:
• First, is the information accurate?
• Second, is it possible to infer from sample results to the population of
interest?
POPULASI
• Population is the collection of all individuals or items under
consideration in a statistical study (Burns and Grove, 2010
• Population refers to a collection of people, animals, or objects
that we are interested in studying (Chernick, 2011).
• Study population is all of the individuals that the researchers
are interested in studying (Macnee and McCabe, 2008).
POPULATION-SAMPLE-SAMPLING-BIAS
• The population is the group of people in whom we are interested and to
whom we wish the results of the study to apply
• A sample is required because, in most instances, it is not practical or
necessary to study everyone in the population
• Clearly, in taking a sample, it is absolutely vital that it be representative of
the population
• Bias is a systematic error in sampling or measurement that leads to an
incorrect conclusion.
JENIS POPULASI (Jacobsen, 2011)
SAMPLE
• Sample is part of the population from which
information is obtained (Weiss and Weiss, 2008).
• A sample would be a subset of population that is
used to draw inferences about population (Chernick,
2011).
