3.1 Parameters Detection Before Loading

BDQC-2E verifies the validity of parameters before loading.
 Whether flow coefficient is valid or not.
 Whether density is in effective range or not.
 Whether the 1st trip amount is in effective range or not.

12
BDQC-2E Batch Controller Operation Manual

 Whether the 2nd trip amount is in effective range or not.

 Whether the real amount is above the 2nd trip amount.
 Whether the preset quantity is in effective range or not.
 Whether the 2nd trip amount is more than the 1st trip amount.
BDQC-2E checks the above parameters before loading. Error indication is displayed whenever
there is a failure during the checking process. And BDQC-2E will return to the wait operations
display after 3 seconds.

3.2 Start Loading Operations

When loading is started, BDQC-2E starts to control valves and pumps according to the preset
quantity.
If speed limit is chosen, valve configuration ( for the 1st trip amount ) is started.
If speed limit is not chosen and the real amount does not exceed the 1st trip amount, valve
configuration is started.
When close speed limit is started and the real amount exceeds the 1st trip amount, valve
configuration (for the 1st trip amount) is started.
When neither speed limit or close speed limit is chosen and real amount exceeds the 1st trip
amount, valve configuration ( for the Lowest Flowrate loading ) is started.
Direction:Speed limit is used to control the flow rate by controlling the digital control valve
according to the current flow rate. When speed limit is chosen, valve configuration is controlled
by BDQC-2E.
BDQC-2E starts loading then.

3.3 Loading Operations

BDQC-2E shows the loading status on line three of the display in the Loading.

flow rate at a rather low and steady rate to insure the accuracy of loading and reduce the water
hammer when valve is shut.
When the loading amount reaches 1st Trip Control Point, BDQC-2E chooses the “1st Trip valve
control configuration”. If speed limit function is used, BDQC-2E will adjust the output signal to
control opening of valve , so as to preserve the flow rate within the preset amount.
Operators can do the following operations here:
 Press the STOP Key and BDQC-2E will run the stop valve configuration and go to local
stop display.
The following happening can cause BDQC-2E to shut valve when the loading amount reaches 1st
Trip Control Point.
 Grounding alarm is detected by BDQC-2E.
 Overfill alarm is detected by BDQC-2E.
 Remote stop command is received by BDQC-2E.

to countdown the finish time so as to determine whether to shut valve.
If flow rate is zero after the valve is closed, the current loading is effectively finished and
BDQC-2E goes to normal ending display.
If flow rate is more than zero after the valve is closed, it means that the valve leaks. BDQC-2E
will shut the valve again and shows valve leakage display.
When BDQC-2E shows valve leakage display, can not to execute other operation. It can only exit
after countdown is finished.
Note: Please make sure that the countdown range is suitable. It is set according
to such factors as valve type, pump type and pipeline size. It is suggested that the
ending time period is 3-5 seconds longer than the time which the valve spends
from fully open to close.
Note: When running Blending Loading, BDQC-2E will not go to reach “1st Trip”

5 Special Usage of Loading by Truck Scale

5.1 Measure by Truck Scale

Tare weight is received by BDQC-2E when truck scale is used in loading.
During the loading process, new weight data is continuously received by BDQC-2E and the new
weight will be refurbish to the real quantity.
BDQC-2E will control the batch loading according to the real quantity.

5.2 Loading after Normal End

If last loading ended normally, BDQC-2E will set the loadometer data as tare weight when a new
loading begins. And the real loading quantity will be cleared.
The real quantity is cleared automatically, so if operator need to know last real loading quantity, he

30
BDQC-2E Batch Controller Operation Manual

needs to inquire from the historical records inquiry display or from the host computer.
Note: If manual stop occurs in loading, BDQC-2E still takes it as a normal end.
The real quantity is cleared before the next loading. If additional loading is
needed in the same car, please reset the additional quantity.
Loading records will be saved to the historical records after normal end.

5.3 Restart after Abnormal End

If a power outage happens during loading or loading pause process, BDQC-2E takes it as an
abnormal end.
Loading records are not saved in this case.
BDQC-2E will remind users whether to clear the real quantity when it starts again.
If operator chooses to clear the real quantity, BDQC-2E will set the loadometer data as tare weight
when a new loading begins, and the real quantity will be cleared.
If operator chooses to continue loading, BDQC-2E will set the former tare weight as the new one
and recalculate the real quantity this time.
The continuous loading in case of abnormal end is designed for the following situation:
If power outage happens, truck won’t move forward after power on and needs to continue the
unfinished loading quantity.

6 Status of Valve, Alarm and Communication

Status of Valve, alarm and communication are displayed on line four in the wait operations display
and the during loading display.

6.1 DI / DO Status
Numeric digits “1” thru “8” and squareness boxes underneath the numeric digits are
displayed on the left side.
Either input or output status can be seen in valve status. It can be set by “set valve status display”.
When valve input status is displayed, numeric digits “1” thru “4”show the status of DI1-DI4.
Hollow means DI is relay open and solid means DI is relay close. Numeric digits “5” thru “8”
show grounding alarm (SE) and overfill alarm status (LE). Numeric digits “5” means SE2,
numeric digits “6” means SE1, numeric digits “7” means LE2 and numeric digits “8” means
LE1. Hollow means open and solid means close.
When valve output status is shown, numeric digits “1” thru “8” show the status of DO1-DO8.
Hollow means DO outputs low power level (relay is open) and solid means DO outputs high
power level (relay is close).

31
BDQC-2E Batch Controller Operation Manual

6.2 Alarm Status

The four squareness boxes in the middle of line four show alarm status.
These are four symbols, which are SE, SC, L1 and L2.
SE: Grounding status
SC: Communication status with truck scale
L1: First Overfill Alarm status
L2: Second Overfill Alarm status
Hollow means normal status and solid means alarm status.
SE、L1、L2 are effective in all cases. If anyone of them is in alarm, loading can not be started.
SC is only effective to loading by truck scale. If SC is in alarm, the communication with truck
scale is broken off.
Note: If the load arm uses only one way overfill switch, the other one must be
short connected, or else BDQC-2E can’t work normally.

6.3 Communication Status

The two boxes on the right side of line four are RX and TX, which show the communication
status.
RX is the receiving signal and TX is the transmitting signal.
When RX flash, it means BDQC-2E receives effective message from host computer. When TX
flashes, it means BDQC-2E is transmitting message to host computer.
Only when both TX and RX flash that the communication is effective.
