Ecd I F19 EE203 50 Dr. Bilal, Engr. Khizar, Engr. Fareeha 3 Hrs. (+3 HRS.)

This document contains instructions and questions for an electrical engineering exam on electronic circuits. It includes 3 questions analyzing different circuits: 1. Analyzing a BJT common emitter amplifier circuit to determine operating points and how temperature changes would affect it. 2. Analyzing a MOSFET common source amplifier to determine operating points and how to modify the circuit to increase current without changing the MOSFET. 3. Analyzing a circuit containing a JFET and BJT to determine various voltages, then replacing the JFET with a MOSFET to compare the results.

INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY ISLAMABAD

DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

TERMINAL EXAMINATION
FALL 2020

COURSE NAME ECD I BATCH F19

COURSE CODE EE203 MAX. MARKS 50
INSTRUCTOR Dr. Bilal, Engr. Khizar, Engr. Fareeha TIME ALLOWED 3 Hrs. (+3 Hrs.)
Note:
 Use “Sample Course Answer Booklet” document, read and follow the instructions given inside. Convert your file to a
single PDF file and upload within the given time limit.
 You are required to submit the original answer sheet to the department as soon as university resumes for students,
therefore keep the original answer sheet with you.

Question No. 1: Assume you are working in laboratory at 27 C with the circuit given in figure 1.
Analyse the circuit, determine the Q- point and answer the following questions: (5)
1 Can we use it as an amplifier? Justify your answer based on your analysis. (3)
2 What will happen if you installed the circuit given in figure 1 in Jacobabad at the temperature of
55 C. Still it is working or not? Is there any distortion in the output? (3)
a. Do the temperature analysis i.e find the percentage change in ICQ and VCEQ. (5)

3 If the circuit in figure 1 is not working in Jacobabad, being electrical engineer suggest and draw
the circuit for working at 55 C temperatures effectively. (4) (CLO 2)

Assume β=125 @ 27 C and β=200 @ 55 C.

Question No. 2 Analyze the circuit in figure 2 to find I DQ, VGSQ and VDS. As given in circuit, the IDSS is
8mA but a customer requires current more than this I DSS. Suggest a change in the circuit resistors
without changing the MOSFET. Prove your suggested circuit by doing load line analysis. Is the Q point
in the new circuit is located at correct location? (6+4+5)(CLO2)

Question No.3 A designer designs the circuit given in figure 3. You have to analyse it to find the
following parameters: a. VB . b. VE. c. IE . d. IB. e. VS . f. VCE. g. VDS. Replace the JFET with D-type
MOSFET and find a.Vc b. VG c. VDS d. VCE . Is there any difference between the parameters found for
JFET. (10+5) CLO2
