Introduction

Art and craft give us pleasure. I recycle card-

board, paper and hard organic surfaces like pistachio
shells to make show pieces or useful items. In this small
book, I will tell you about some of my crafts made using
those shells.

4
Preparation

We will need washed and dried pistachio

shells, colours, colouring brushes, water, a bowl to store
shells, a tray to dry craft under the sun or wind.

Use what you have. If you don’t have pis-

tachio shells, you can use small paper balls, thermocol
balls to make the same crafts. They look cute too.

The aim here is to connect with nature,

material and colours. Upcycling and recycling items is a
therapy too that puts us in a positive frame of mind.

Craft 1 - WELL

Take an empty spool. Apply glue or

fevicol all over it. Cover insides
with a paper. Cover outer surface
with the shells. Colour and deco-
rate the walls of well with glitter
and mirrors. Paint 3 sticks and stick
them as in the photo.
Your well is almost ready. Make a
bucket by rolling a thick paper

piece in cylindrical shape. Hang it with a thread on the middle stick, on another paper
cylinder. Close the bottom of well with another circular piece of cardboard.

6
Craft 2 - PEN STAND

Take an empty cardboard box or round carton. Apply

glue or fevicol all over it. Cover insides with a paper.
Cover outer surface with the shells. Colour and deco-
rate with glitter, pearls, sequins and mirrors. Cover
bottom with a piece of paper or you can paint it too.
Put it on a table. You can use it as a pen stand or
flower vase (dry or fake flowers).

7
Craft 3 - TEACHING AID

Cover a rectangular cardboard sur-

face with glue and stick a paper on
it. Colour some pistachio shells in
different colours and arrange them
on paper covered cardboard as
shown. Fix them using fevicol. Add
text and arrows.

8
Craft 4 - WALL HANGING
Cover a rectangular cardboard
surface with glue and stick a pa-
per on it. Colour some pistachio
shells in different colours and ar-
range them on paper covered
cardboard as shown. Fix them us-
ing fevicol. Decorate with glitter,
pearls, sequins and mirrors. You
can add more shapes on the
corners or edges. Hang it using a
strong thread.
