1. Cite five different authors who defined “Scientific Problem/Question”. (Use APA
Citation)
- According to Popper (1974), Scientific information is known to be provisional, in
correlation to the scientific method that includes both problems and questions.
Proposed by Karl Popper, the Falsification Theory is a way of demarcating science
from non-science. It implies that it must be capable of being checked and conceivably
proved wrong for a hypothesis to be considered scientific.
- In accordance to a research created by Bacon (1620), he conducted an investigation
wherein he has come up with the so called “Scientific Method”. Bacon invented a
system by which scientists set up experiments to manipulate nature and try to prove
their theories incorrect in order to test possible facts, or hypotheses. He discovered
and popularized the scientific method, whereby the laws of science are discovered
rather than using logic-based claims by obtaining and analyzing evidence from
experiments and observations.
- In the studies of Ravetz (1996), he states that scientific questions and problems are
often related to ethical and social organizations or methods. In-depth terms of ethics
and sociology are incorporated for not only are the application of sciences are what’s
used, also human welfare. He says that, that three goes well for the ethic part provides
formed awareness, the social aspect tackles common-sense amongst people and
obviously science handling the scientific view.
- According to Johnson (2004), scientific interpretation is still a relatively recent
discipline as it is generally known and practiced. The visualization of scientific
aspects in this study can be applied both to scientific issues and to problems. Having
to mention that a person should take an open mentality into account, they should all
have these. Quality of graphics, integration, data, interactions, and abstractions. This
not only discusses the whole, but also the results necessary for the information to be
provided.
- According to a study conducted by Taylor (1880), Scientific leadership is a theory of
management that analyzes work flows in order to improve economic performance,
especially labor productivity. He indicated that if workers were streamlined and
simplified, productivity would grow. It focused on solely 5 factors, Science,
Harmony, Mental Revolution, Cooperation and Personal Development and
Efficiency.
2. Among the five chosen definitions, choose one to elucidate in not less than five
sentences.
- The chosen definition I would like to elucidate would be the given meaning of Karl
Popper about his perspective on Scientific Information. Knowing that it involves both
queries and difficulties, most likely in scientific aspects, he states that all of those are
provisional. With that said, data and information can be added later on, having the
capabilities for it to become even more reliable and efficient. Since his theory states
of it being provisional, the data given at that particular time can be improved in due
time. In relation to scientific problems and questions, these are also provisional for
they can be acted on without any specific length of time. To put it simply, just as the
theory suggests on how it demarcates science from non-science, it hits the scientific
questions/problems to differentiate which are of sense, are of right and wrong and in
overall of what is substantial.
